New feature: Like and Dislike added to posts

Not really. If someone dislikes a post,you can seek theirs out and dislike it. It's usually genuine enough, when I read their posts I don't like them. Euros are in a minority here and we express views which can be perceived as radical or communist etc by daft US righties. We are always more neg repped and the majority rep each other.

The previous rep function was always abused. Why is anyone surprised this one is? Rep systems don't encourage quality posting. The people on the rep board were rarely high quality posters, they were just a group who repped their mates on an organised basis. Some people may even be deterred from posting in case they are neg repped.

Btw, contrary to Frodly's claim that everyone wants to be liked etc, I'm pretty sure many of us couldn't care less. Many contributors are topic focused, not sociable. Frodly, how many managers have you had in your life? How many managers did you actively like as people? How much socialising did people like Einstein, Stephen Hawkin, Alan Turing etc...do? People are individuals. Some of them want to be liked to extremes and some of us just don't. One of my friends will do almost anything to be liked and it makes me cringe. She is about being seen to be popular, not actually being popular. Total waste of time. It can make life easier if people like you, but is that being liked, or just being professional...

 

It's all over sensitivity if so many posts offend you to the point of having to 'stick it to them.!' Everything my political antagonists post I dont care for, but if they are civil about it and/or inject some humor, I have no major heart burn with their postings.

BTW, I noticed I had 3 Dislikes (one, the lady apologized for not seeing humor in the post but taking it seriously, and of course 82 testing his buttons), and I noticed that just coming back after 3 mos, I managed to go to sleep last night, and my fragile ego didnt suffer from 3 Dislikes!! OMG...the pain that I slept thru...

I only get a "notification" when I receive a rep.


...of course, I can view the reps I've given, when directed to the list.

 

Naw, I've changed a bit while you were off seeing the world and not much offends anymore. I still like bashing bullies and petty twits though, so if it's all right with you I will probably neg rep them whenever it comes into my head to do so.

Ever notice how everything on this forum turns into an US (the members) vs. THEM (the mods)? We can always count on Mak to pop off something insulting and all the mods seem to rally around our absent, but no doubt well-meaning, ADMIN. Really wish it didn't have to be that way.

82 is right. You rarely see the neg rep or dislike feature on other forums because it causes too much trouble. Why anybody thought it'd be different here is puzzling. It's just another way for the left to try and shut people up.

Maybe we could take a poll on the features we'd like to see here? Would that be possible?

Use a little common-sense do. The majority of posters here are screaming reactionaries who support a Party devoted to spite and hate, yet you suppose someone called 'the left' is trying to shut this lynch mob up by expressing disapproval? I don't even know how to send a dislike myself, and would regard it as a pathetic thing to do.

 

OR....we could start a neg rep board for poster with most dislikes, as well as most repped.

I found myself going through withdrawl this morning when I logged on and there were no alerts alerting me to the people who hate every thing I post. Then again, I hardly posted anything yesterday so hopefully I am not losing my touch!!

 

Maybe they shud re-label the 2 buttons, "Love You' and "Hate You."

Well being apart of the extreme left or OWS crowd where even I'm hated by my own kind I never really got reps from anyone except hillbilly now with the like features its a delight logging onto PoliticalForum now because I always get something whether dislike or like its still a priviledge knowing I'm being acknowleged.

so its a good feature in the end.
