Sadly true. Believe it or not, there was a time on this forum when the left knew how to conduct a discussion. They even used facts and reason on occasion. Now, it all simply boils down to some version of "Dirty Don is a [fill in the blank]."

Go back to your post #708. You wanted to play the numbers game...until you didn't. Turns out you never had an argument after all. You just needed to do this:

There is some truth to that, I suppose.

However, what has happened over the last month is crystal clear and includes no room for excuses.

Trump has essentially switched sides in the battle against COVID, advocating a direction that is entirely in COVID's favor, and is clearly opposed to (and even defunding) direction on our national defense that is recommended by experts in pandemic, in healthcare, in occupational safety.

I asked for clarity on YOUR numbers game.

Measuring our status is not a numbers game. Measuring our status is how we figure out whether we're being successful.

As one can easily see, we are absolutely failing.

And, it's no wonder that Europe plans to leave us on their list of those who may not visit as THEIR status has improved.

How do you think this will play out in terms of our economy?

China, SKorea, Europe are showing improvement that leaves them well ahead of us.

We're rapidly getting WORSE, while having leadership that OPPOSES the measures that have been found necessary.

By what magic could this possibly lead to the US mainintaining our world economic position?

~ Look at the role models they have to set an example : Ice Cream Lady Pelosi ; Mad Maxine Waters; Crybaby Schumer ; Racist AOC ; Taliban Ilhan Abdullahi Omar ; Beijing Biden ; and the King "I have a pen" Saint Obama.

Just to help put a clearer point on it, how much did he eventually sign in terms of funding?

Another one. When the facts are against you, start calling names.

Pathetic. Most Trumpsters can’t even spell responsibility, much less know what it means.

I stopped reading after “honest”. So much for having a rational discussion.
(As though you ever had an “honest” intent to engage in one).

Having a pandemic isn't good for the economy, I get that, but we are not "absolutely failing." COVID death rates have been falling steadily.

Cases are going up, but the people who are becoming infected are younger people who face the least danger from this. So I don't think things are getting worse.

Sadly not a one of them seems to have even a spark of wit or intelligence. I guess when you never have to defend your positions, you never develop the tools to do so.

Death is NOT the only long lasting damage caused by COVID, nor is it a measure of the situation caused by high numbers of COVID patients on our healthcare system.

Here in WA, a hospital delivered a bill to someone who recovered. The bill was for well over a million dollars. The hospital didn't expect to get paid - they just did it to recored the problem.

The idea of using death as a measure just isn't appropriate - whether you care about health or dollars.

Well over a million dollars Would be the bill the hospital presented to the patient. Of course BCBS and Medicare are not going to allow all of those charges so as of today we don't know what the actual final bill will be.

Death is absolutely an appropriate measure and it is what has the country so panicked, nobody craps their britches over the flu. I have heard that there are other serious long term effects but there is very little discussion about that so who knows? What the public sees doesn't appear to add up to the absolute end game it is portrayed to be in some circles. We look at it and ask ourselves "Is that it?" It has become so political that nobody trusts anyone about it.

Here is a fact or factoid or whatever. The Governor of Texas has issued shut down orders again but barbers and hairdressers aren't on that list. Could that be because that profession very publicly stood up to them.

    !
Well we disagree on the problem then. Deaths seem to be exactly the metric to use. The only other metric I would worry about is hospital capacity. Your hospital in WA are apparently a bunch of dumbasses since the CARE Act is picking up the tab for uninsured COVID patients.

As I pointed out, death is NOT the only long term damage that COVID does.

And, your pathetic attempts at insult are merely disgusting. When treatment costs more than a million bucks and the patient doesn't have that, what the HELL do you expect to happen?

Are you lobbying for death pannels?

I'd point out that Texas IS moving in that direction. When hospitals run out of capacity, that's what happens.

I don't believe that we ran out of hospital capacity even in New York City. Where is it you suspect is going to see such a problem?

:applause:~ Everything New York did was a screw up. Cuomo The Catastrophe and Destructive DeBalsio make a great team . We have learned to do the opposite of these two goofs blunders. :censored::dohtwo:
USA made so many ventilators - as requested - that there is a huge surplus. They are being sent around the world where needed. Unlike the ones ' Made In China' these actually work.

California certainly isn't doing as well as NYC is.

And, there is NO question they needed way more vents and PPE - material that Trump made NO EFFORT to supply.

In fact, FEMA was interdicting delivery of PPE to hospitals at a time when medical staff were getting COVID while trying to save people.

So I'm curious - are you gloating, or what?

    :roflol:

Does "This Thread Didn't Age Well" ring a bell?

    The way things are today:

With GOP Governors jumping the gun on re-opening (and leading to ANOTHER PEAK Outbreak)...

AND, Trump's serial FAILURE to manage the crisis...

At this time NEXT YEAR, we may still be in lockdown if a vaccine isn't widely available...

    EASTER?...:roflol: Wow...:bored:

Start by wearing a mask and encouraging every American to wear a mask when you are in a location that maintaining social distancing is difficult.

If you are shoulder to shoulder in a protest/riot a mask won't unexposed you to someone who is contagious. Masks are a binky, make you feel secure but you ain't. Gloves are more effective but we don't see so many gloves worn.
