Trump's stance on immigration seemed fake to me too; I'm not here to defend Trump (except on Jan 6, classified documents, and election interference lawfare). Yes, he could have issued proclamations on immigration too. I didn't press on the immigration issue during 2016-2020 because the urgency to fix the situation wasn't there for me.

But now, there are 2 primary reasons I have changed my mind on the issue: (1) the magnitude of the problem has increased dramatically, and (2) the threats to the US have changed. Biden has used our proxies, weapons, and money to kill 50k-100k Russians, and as a result we should fully expect Russia and its proxies to attempt to harm us. The international situation has developed to a point that it is insane to just accept this chaos at the border.

Again, Biden needs to issue proclamations on immigration to protect America. The spirit of our asylum laws is being totally warped as everyone knows that the vast majority (probably over 90%) of these millions of people were NOT suffering political or religious persecution. However, at times, in various places, religious or political persecution DOES happen. By making a mockery of the term asylum, we are screwing actual victims of persecution. I guess we are in the process of redefining the term asylum like we redefined vaccine...

 

Trump's signaling his lickspittles in Congress to kill the bipartisan legislation even before any details were revealed confirms his scheme to deny the President (and the nation) progress in controlling the border.

The most effective way to discourage the huge increase in migration is to raise unemployment and return to the numbers Trump had achieved.

 

And as expected, the left never tells the entire story, just what they want to sell. NOTHING in that bill will help reverse illegal immigration. You can hire all the agents your want but Bidens Executive Orders are still in force to release illegals who claim asylum.

All Biden has to do is reverse his anti Trump border policies and its done. We don't need another bill to secure the border.
Which means, he doesn't want to reverse anything. All he really wants to do is pretend to provide a new border policy that actually does nothing to stop illegal crossings so he can blame it on Republicans.
But they aren't falling for it because they know exactly what Biden is doing.

These policies (Still in effect) have brought in over 7 MILLION illegals into the US. And until these policies are reversed, NOTHING in that bill will do ANYTHING to slow down illegal immigration. So you can try to convince your tribe of how Biden is trying to solve the border problem but 88% of the voters aren't buying this BS.

Laughable. The most effective way is to do what Texas just did. REFUSE to allow illegals into the country. If they want to apply for asylum then they can do it at a port on entry and wait in Mexico.

THE BORDER SECURITY AND POLICY PROPOSAL

ENDS PAROLE CATCH-AND-RELEASE FIASCO AT THE BORDER
Ends Biden’s use of catch-and-release through the CBPOne app to hand out work permits for free along the
southwest border.
The definition of humanitarian parole is clarified to stop the daily flagrant abuse of the authority at the border.
This change alone will stop over half-a-million border crossings every year.

MANDATES A COMPLETE SHUTDOWN OF THE BORDER
Creates a new mandatory Border Emergency Authority that will protect our nation from having another
month like September, October, November or December 2023, when more than 10,000 people a day
crossed the southern border.
The new Border Emergency Authority is even stronger than the Title 42 Authority used during the Trump
Administration because it also includes new legal consequences for anyone who tries to return after
deported.
No more massive caravans of migrants flowing over the border day after day.
Allows law enforcement in America to control the border, not the criminal cartels in Mexico.
Changes the default when the border is overrun from releasing everyone into the country to deporting
everyone out of the country. When the average number of crossings exceeds 5,000 people a week (which it
has every week but one in the past four months) everyone crossing illegally everyday is rapidly deported out
of the country without an asylum screening. In the past four months almost a million people have crossed our
border. If this law had been in place four months ago, all of them would have been deported out of the country,
rather than released into the country.
When the border closes, it stays closed and everyone is deported every day until the number of people
crossing illegally drops. Once the number of encounters drop, the border continues to stay closed for up to
an additional two weeks to continue to drive the numbers down; It closes the border when we exceed our
capacity to detain and deport so no one is released into the US because of the crowd.

IMPOSES IMMEDIATE CONSEQUENCES FOR ILLEGAL CROSSING
Removal is carried out in days or weeks, not years.
Prevents the administration from handing out work permits for simply crossing at a port of entry.
Provides 50,000 detention beds, more ICE agents, more deportation flights, and more asylum officers to
keep more people in custody while processing.
If 50,000 beds is not enough to hold people during their processing, a new expedited removal authority is
created which allows for faster processing and fewer appeals outside of custody in weeks, not years. No
more 10 year releases in the US before their hearing.

REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE IN THE ASYLUM SCREENING
Prohibits illegal migrants who could have relocated within their home country from being eligible for asylum in
the US.
Bars criminal aliens from getting through the first asylum screening at the border.
Bars any alien that re-settled or could have re-settled in another country on the way to the United States.
Raises the standard for evidence of persecution to the higher Trump Administration’s “reasonable possibility”
standard. This alone will dramatically reduce the number of people allowed through the asylum screening
process.
Combines three separate screenings to make the process faster at the border: Credible Fear (asylum),
Convention Against Torture (CAT), and Withholding of Removal. This will quickly send illegal migrants who donot qualify for asylum back to their home country, instead of being released into the US for seemingly endlessappeals and hearings.
Each of these changes would reduce dramatically the number of people eligible to even apply for asylum, but
together they will be a powerful tool for any administration willing to enforce the law.

PROVIDES NEW EXPEDITED REMOVAL AUTHORITY TO
ENSURE ILLEGAL MIGRANTS ARE REMOVED WITHIN 90 DAYS
Currently, most illegal migrants are processed without screening, released into the interior for 10 or more
years, and placed into a 3 million case backlog—that ends with this bill.
The new expedited removal authority ensures that every illegal alien who crosses the border is either
detained or tracked. Some family groups are hard to detain, so those groups will have alternative to
detention, fast hearings and one limited appeal.
Those who do not qualify will be removed.

BUILDS THE WALL
Provides $650 million to build and reinforce miles and miles of new border wall.
It also withholds the majority of the wall money to be used during the next administration.

RADICAL CHANGE FROM CATCH AND RELEASE
TO ENFORCE AND DEPORT
Increases Border Patrol recruitment and streamlines hiring.
Funding for more ICE Agents and ICE detention beds.
Funding for effective mandatory monitoring.
Funding for ICE removal operations (flights and buses back home).
Uses direct hire procedures to increase ICE deportation officers and enforcement and removal

1. I never mentioned anything about Texas. I have no idea where that came from

2. I never stated anything about Abbott.

3. I actually provided the 9 of Bidens executive orders that have allowed over 7 million illegals to roam this country in just 3 years, 4 times higher than any president in history.

Just like I missed where your visa overstays had anything to do with my post on Bidens executive orders allowing over 7 million illegals to roam the country.

 

Your post was a list of actions to reduce/end illegal immigration. My response was to ask about those who aren't just trying to cross over from mexico, but instead use visa's to legally enter and then never leave.

Your response to that question was to simply reiterate the number of people crossing the southern boarder, which did nothing to address what I asked. If you erroneously quoted my post instead of one that your comment would have made sense as a response to, then that's understandable, but your post was a non-sequitur as a specific answer to my specific question.
