Biden could have fixed this emergency that is killing Americans on a vast scale with fentynal and other drugs, human trafficking, and general cartel murders and gang violence, (and hopefully not terrorists/other foreign agents with intent to subvert or attack), with a simple proclamation, as is his authority to do, for his entire presidency.

Take that $75B and massively upgrade our artillery shell and drone production capacity. Build a few million shells, here, with US jobs. Keep 95% of the shells here in the US. The same for drones.

The purpose is twofold: (1) replenish our stockpiles of weapons that are clearly needed to conduct modern warfare at scale, and (2) Putin needs to know that we can match Russia's production, so that we can use our new capacity, and growing stockpile, as a chip at the negotiations that must occur over Ukraine (if Putin thinks that he doesn't have absolute dominance in 155M shells, he will be more likely to negotiate, and offer more).

The above would be a much better use of the money for America. No more direct money to Israel or Ukraine. Fund the weapons with a bill now, and vote on different bills down the road as to whether to send the weapons, and how many.

But Ukraine and Israel are separate issues from securing the US border!

My understanding of this, the border closes at 5000 per day, all above 5000 are turned back. The 5000, which they can handle and process in 24 hours are not released, 95% (especially single males) will be deported in 24 hours under the new proposed law as it's really tightens up on "amnesty", etc.. These new legal (Trump was using a "covid/pandemic" statue) "power" will discourage in time more migration. Lots of media source have reported on this even the head of the Trump supporting border union whom I saw speak specifically of this on Ingram. I have not read the actual bill however !

That's the bill and the Senate agreement. If I was applying logic vs wanting the border issue only as a election cudgel ( Trump had the WH, both branches of Congress and much more migration than Obama to deal with and Covid shut the border down), I would say that the border agents and the courts are able to actually process 5000 asylum claims/deportations daily, hence the number agreed on. Covid shut down more than the border, it shut down the economy, closing the entire border even just to letting in supplies and commerce would also affect the economy.

However, we are straying to that comfort zone that is not in my post you quoted which was addressing the comments of the border patrol union claims about the proposed bill and how it actually helps them.

Based off the bullet points it doesn't do any of what you are suggesting. And I don't see how any of this policy would discourage over time. In fact it would absolutely INCOURAGE. "they accept up to 5k a day! You could be one of them!"

 

See their argument for not just shutting down the border is "oh but amnesty".

If you are requesting amnesty you do so at a registered port of entry. If you are not at a registered port of entry you do not qualify for amnesty. Case closed.

Hence there is NO justification for the 5,000. NONE of them qualify for amnesty because they aren't at a registered port of entry. There's no reason to "process 5,000". They are ALL illegal and NONE of them qualify for amnesty. Not a damn ONE of them should be allowed to come in or even be considered for "processing".

The border should be closed for ALL illegals who don't request amnesty at a port of entry. Not only closed if we reach 5,000 of them. What the actual ****.
