Today the U.K. counted 77 dead from the coronavirus, Germany, eight dead; South Korea, one dead; Spain, zero; France, 17 dead; Germany, eight dead; Italy, ten dead; and Canada, 15 dead.

Today 1,247 Americans lost their lives to the coronavirus. Coronavirus Update (Live): 20,785,871 Cases and 751,548 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Pandemic - Worldometer

"They are dying. That's true. And you -- it is what it is," Trump said.

This has been Trump's reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The coronavirus will weaken “when we get into April, in the warmer weather—that has a very negative effect on that, and that type of a virus.”

“It’s going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle—it will disappear.”

If the economic shutdown continues, deaths by suicide “definitely would be in far greater numbers than the numbers that we’re talking about” for COVID-19 deaths. [The virus death toll currently stands at 168,992.]

“Coronavirus numbers are looking MUCH better, going down almost everywhere,” and cases are “coming way down.”

The pandemic is “fading away. It’s going to fade away.” The U.S. has averaged over 1,000 deaths a day for the past sixteen days.

The pandemic is “getting under control.”

And this whopper. “99%” of COVID-19 cases are “totally harmless.”

Trump has been at the helm of the greatest economy the world has ever known. Don't believe it? Check with Trump. "The United States is in the midst of an economic boom the likes of which the world has never seen before," told the Post in January of this year.

Because of his false optimism and habitual fantasies, because of his inability to react for two months when the virus threatened, because he refuses to accept bad news, Trump has run the greatest economy in the world's history into the ground. The US economy shrank by an annualized 32.9 percent in the second quarter of 2020. It is the biggest contraction ever, pushing the economy into a recession as the coronavirus pandemic forced many businesses including restaurants, cafes, stores and factories to close. Thirty million Americans are unemployed, and the National Debt is exploding as the federal government tries in vain to help the American people challenged by both a pandemic and unemployment.

Put a different way, if Putin had managed to install an FSB (successor to the KGB) agent in the White House, that agent could not do nearly as well as Trump (from Putin's point of view).

Trump has caused serious destruction to our country, and it will take years to undo the damage he has done.

Putin is extremely pleased with his choice.

Trump on Thursday again attacked his own FBI director, whom he appointed.

Fox and Trump desperately want to change the subject. Fox knows Trump mismanaged the pandemic from the very beginning. To promote Trump, they attempt to avoid the subject, and, among other matters, rehash the Russian investigation.

Consequently, during a discussion about the Justice Department's probe into the Russia investigation, Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo asked Trump whether FBI director Christopher Wray should step down.

Trump evaded the question. Instead, he replied, "So Christopher Wray was put there. We have an election coming up. I wish he was more forthcoming, he certainly hasn't been. There are documents that they want to get, and we have said we want to get. We're going to find out if he's going to give those documents. But certainly he's been very, very protective."

Then, characteristically, he avoided the responsibility of Wray's appointment.

Trump told Fox Business that Wray "was put there for a good reason, he was chosen by a certain person, and I said, go ahead, put whoever you want. I'm so honest that I said you could put anybody you want. Let's see how Wray turns out. He's either going to turn out one way or the other."

This is not how a POTUS normally acts towards a consequential appointment like the FBI director. "Let's see how it turns out"

    Are you effing kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's Trump. We have come to expect crap like this from him. His supporters are strangely silent. Not a peep from them on this thread in the past several weeks. I don't get that.

Trump hasn't done much, let alone for the economy. Nonetheless, there is no denying that the stock market took off and the economy began to heat up as soon as he was elected. The same week he was elected. If we are being honest, then we would have to admit one of two things----either Trump has been good for the economy or Obama was bad for it.

When Obama and Biden assumed the leadership of our country they were immediately confronted with two major wars and the Great Recession. They dealt with both successfully.

When Trump assumed the leadership of our country, he had no major war to deal with, and he inherited an economy that was in a recovery mode with 76 straight months of job growth under Obama and Biden.

However, as seen in the quotes above, beginning in January, Trump had to confront a dangerous pandemic. As seen in the quotes above, Trump did not handle that well. A quarter of the world's virus cases are in the U.S., and a quarter of the world's deaths caused by the virus are in the U.S.

Today Trump announced a peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, or UAE. He tried to claim credit for the deal. CNN reports, "The deal was announced by US President Donald Trump, who told reporters in the Oval Office that he had a "very special call" with leaders from both countries, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed, and that they had agreed to a peace agreement."

"This deal is a significant step towards building a more peaceful, secure, and prosperous Middle East," Trump said.

The Jerusalem Post reports, "Third-ever peace treaty between Israel and an Arab state includes embassies, direct flights; agreement “suspends” annexation, but Netanyahu says: “I will never give up on our right to our land.'"

Israel, UAE reach historic peace deal: ‘We can make a wonderful future’ - The Jerusalem Post

The Post does not mention any direct involvement of the U.S. in the talks between Israel and the UAE, although the Trump friendly paper tries hard to imply it. Trump, himself, does not mention any direct involvement, although he implies it as well, and the agreement surprised state department.

The elephant in the room is the Palestinians. Any agreement involving the Left Bank is totally meaningless without the Palestinians.

This is a photo op between two American allies just in time for Trump's reelection. The UAE is hundreds of miles from the Left Bank and has no interest in it. The exchange of diplomats is nice.

ABC reports, "Israel and the UAE are key American allies united in their opposition to Iran."

Even if somehow the Trump administration was involved, which is not at all likely, this is no big deal. This is just for show.

In the face of a formidable foe -- the Biden/Harris entente -- the vulnerable Trump needs to show he is still the President.

The OP has overlooked that Trump

The Post reports, "In an interview Thursday with Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, Trump said he opposes a $25 billion emergency injection sought by the U.S. Postal Service, as well as a Democratic proposal to provide $3.6 billion in additional election funding to the states. Both of those requests have been tied up in congressional negotiations over a new coronavirus relief package."

“If we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it,” our President said.

Our President is trying very hard to obstruct Americans from voting during a highly contagious pandemic.

Trump has repeatedly claimed without evidence that mail-balloting would invite widespread fraud. Trump, countless members of his staff, and nearly every Republican member of Congress have voted by mail. Trump says he likes absentee voting. Absentee voting is mail-balloting.

Trump proved there was no voter fraud.

"The now-disbanded voting integrity commission launched by the Trump administration uncovered no evidence to support claims of widespread voter fraud, according to an analysis of administration documents released Friday." Report: Trump commission did not find widespread voter fraud

There is a reason for this. Voter fraud is a felony. Ordinarily, when a crook decides to commit a crime, he is expecting some benefit from the crime. Examples would include robbing a bank, stealing a car, extortion, etc. With voter fraud there is no immediate benefit, and it is a 50/50 chance there won't be any benefit. And the benefit is slight, at best. So, the felon gets the President he wanted. Big freaking deal! Who is dumb enough to risk jail time to get his President of choice?

That is why there is no voter fraud. One is committing a felony and the reward is slight, if at all.

my generation experienced a day in 1962 when for about an hour it looked like nuclear Armageddon was about to commence, and then it suddenly, miraculously, did not, and then the Marxists turned around, a deal was made and the world breathed a sigh of relief...

Until the Reagan Star Wars bluff that for a couple weeks looked like possible Armageddon again, but miraculously, instead, the Wall of the Evil Empire collapsed, and the USSR became a Russian Federation, and the world breathed a sigh of relief..

Until the Rise of the Globalist NWO as announced publicly by GHW Bush and accelerated and expanded thru Clinton, GW Bush and Obama administrations, to the brink of almost creating the Orwellian totalitarian world the oligarchical 1% elites desire...

Only to be miraculously interrupted by an unexpected election of Donald Trump , completely confounding virtually the entire globalist MSN ‘s 95% probability win for Hillary Clinton.

It took President Trump 827 days to top 10,000 false and misleading claims in The Fact Checker’s database, an average of 12 claims a day. On July 9, just 440 days later, the president crossed the 20,000 mark — an average of 23 liess a day over a 14-month period, which included the events leading up to Trump’s impeachment trial,

The Guardian reports, "SV Dáte had waited five long years to ask Donald Trump one question: “Mr President, after three and a half years [of Trump’s presidency], do you regret at all, all the lying you’ve done to the American people?”

"Confronted with Dáte’s question at Thursday’s White House briefing, Trump responded with a question of his own. “All the what?” he said.

"Dáte: “All the lying, all the dishonesties.”

    "Trump: “That who has done?”

“You have done,” said Dáte, who is the Huffington Post’s White House correspondent. “Tens of thousan–”, he began to say, before Trump cut him off and called on another journalist, who asked a question about the payroll tax."

You are dealing with a right wing conspiracy theory while completely avoiding what Trump has said and done. You are totally avoiding the reports in this thread. In consideration of those reports, you do not defend Trump. You simply ignore the reality of those reports.

And, while Americans are dying and our great economy has been trashed, you come up a theoretical reason you support Trump.

Stop and think what you are saying.

The Hill reports, "The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has warned state election officials of "inconsistencies" between its delivery service and state deadlines for receiving and counting mail-in ballots, raising the possibility that many votes may not arrive in time to be counted."

The Guardian writes, "Some delays this year have been because USPS workers have been unable to work during the Covid-19 pandemic. But fears increased after Louis DeJoy, a major Trump donor with no prior USPS experience, took over the agency. Shortly after he started at the postal service the agency was prohibiting overtime and that postal workers should leave mail behind at processing plants if it would cause them to leave late."

Mark Jamison, a former postmaster in North Carolina, said the idea of leaving first-class mail – which includes letters with a regular stamp – was anathema to the culture of USPS. “The rule has always been you clear every piece of first-class mail out of a plant every day, period,” he said. “There has never been, never, in the 30 years I worked for the post office, there has never been a time when you curtail first-class mail.”

Trump's attempts to disenfranchise the American voter is not going to work. He may be the President, but he is an extremely unpopular President who lacks the authority to govern. He is mostly laughed at, and Americans are tired of hearing his lies. Trump has been disenfranchised.

The states and the American voter have been warned. DeJoy's attempts to sabotage the postal service will not work. States will react accordingly, and American voters, desperate to rid themselves of this President, will adjust to the new state rules. The voter participation in this election will be historic.

I will try this again. Most things are open again in the US according to my friends there. Liquor stores never closed as they were deemed essential.

Why are polling places a more dangerous place to contract COVID?

And the US does not interfere with the internal politics of other countries??

As for COVID, it might behoove you to remember junior high school math and stop looking at the numbers and look at the proportions of deaths.

It’s easy math really. Just take the number of reported COVID deaths (which is probably high but that’s ok) and divide it by the population. For the world right now that’s about 8 out of 10,000. Does that sound high to you?

In the US 518 deaths per million. Does that sound nightmarish to you?

People casually hop in their car and light up a cigarette and both even individually are more dangerous!

I am curious and I’ve asked many people now. What could Trump have done practically to keep a collection of nucleic acids from dividing inside human cells that the Belgians and Spanish and Italians and the U.K. were not able to do even in the midst of highly enforced lockdowns?

Similar to many things Trump does, this is comical as well as transparent. Trump wants to buy votes.

Of course, none of this is going to happen without the approval of Congress. Frobes writes, "The Republican-led Senate—which must approve all of the provisions Trump mentioned if they are to require more federal spending—left town on Thursday for its August recess and won’t return until after Labor Day."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has surrendered the Senate's spending to Trump's negotiators, and Trump is not about to make a deal with Pelosi. He loves blaming the Democrats for the failure of his government to act. This could go on for quite a while.

In the meantime, 30 million Americans are facing both a pandemic and unemployment.

You need to read the post you responded to. Your reply was non-responsive to what I wrote. For example, I never mentioned a "nightmarish" scenario, although a daily death count of Americans averaging over 1,000 for eighteen straight days is a serious problem.

I am sure you would agree.

In the post I dealt with the consequences of the pandemic, not the pandemic itself. Perhaps you should, too, if you want to critique my analysis.

1000 deaths per day in a nation of 330 million many of which are merely presumed to be from COVID?
People die and very very mostly not from COVID.

Or do you believe Dutch scientists who recommended a gradual exposure process which turned out to be effective, or do we believe Italian, Belgian, Spanish or UK scientists who wanted to basically eliminate exposure which was ineffective, or do we listen to Japanese scientists who basically closed nothing and have amongst the best success rate in the world?

Science does not speak with one resounding harmonious voice and Fauci is not God as much as you and he would like to believe so.

By the way you say “we”. Of whom are you speaking?
