Do EMTs only get $15 per hour? That’s a bit rough.

And the amount the company can charge is in direct proportion to the amount people will pay for their service.

if the firm operates in perfect competition they won’t be able to raise prices to offset wages. They will have to use continuous improvement activities to drive down there cogs

That is a common starting pay for EMTs. Many use the experience to further their career. Many become a paramedic.

Voluntarily paying employees $15/hr doesn't ruin the economy... it is mandating that all employers pay their employees $15/hr that ruins the economy... This is because a minimum wage law is a price control, and price controls ALWAYS lead to shortages (in this case, of jobs). It also leads to higher commodity prices, as the increased labor expense is typically passed onto the consumer (at least to some extent).

Nobody made that claim. All a Free Market is, is the free will exchange of goods and labor, accurate price signals are the key to that process. Weird how you have lived your entire life and not figured that out.

Bonus question: Explain the difference between profit and rent seeking.

Riiight, the cost of labor has bearing on the price of a good or service. You're a damn genius!

Would you say that much more business activity is the same as increasing demand? What do we know about the relationships between price, supply, and demand?

I didn't say that prices wouldn't rise at all, only that it would not be proportional to the rise in wages. When companies can sell more of something, they can tolerate smaller profit margins, than if demand is low. I would guess you understand this concept, as well.

By gawd you're getting it, and EMTs aren't the only ones who make ~$15 per hour BTW. When every employee making the new MW walks what has to happen to fill those voids. Think, think, think, think...

They doubled their labor cost and say it didn't hurt a bit. Ok. I think it's nice to pay that if you can ....but please don't try to convince me that doubling your expenses is easy as pie :) I think it does make a good propaganda story.

But we do. These businesses thrive. The Mexican place is sinful.

So we put them in the position to decide between outsourcing, raising prices, or going out of business.

if that happens, it's because EMT's wages need to go up, you getting it now?

It's not just EMTs, it's EVERYONE making $15. You getting it now? Of course you aren't, willful ignorance makes reasoning easier.

They are paid more than minimum wage. Politicians are proposing we move min wage up to their level. Why would they keep doing that when they can scoop ice cream instead?

we are talking if the min wage goes to $15, if that happens, they need a raise too

if they do not get a raise, they should quit and scoop ice cream instead

Maybe they can learn to code! Speaking of coding, if a patient is in cardiac arrest and every second counts, how does moving EMTs to ice cream benefit society?
