Do some homework on the Washington DC charters. Read Michelle Rhee's book. Read Eva Moskowitz book. If a charter or any other school is failing will be shut down. Also if vouchers match the same spending that public school students receive there will be many private school start ups to fill the market.

Which bubble are you talking about? Home prices speaked in June 2006 and the finamcial crisis hit in late 2008 after Bush decided in a fit of ideological purity to let Lehman go broke. Frank voted for House reform legislation in 2007. The Senate didn't act until 2008.

So, a person involved with the public school system shouldn't be involved in implementing school vouchers, charter schools, and fixing government-run schools when no alternative exists or is likely (rurual areas, for example). Better to have a billionaire advocate for small voucher amounts useless to average folks who can't afford to top up the voucher and thereby escape the government-run system? Better still the reformer know almost nothing about educating students. DeVos is your "ideal" reformer.

Eva Moskowitz is an education insider and therefore not your "ideal" reformer. Joel Klein is another insider, a former teacher and school superintendent. He's out. Michell Rhee is also a former school superintendent. Ditto.
