Why is your thinking within the box ??

Why do you object to helping poor kids who want an education.

The GFC occurred due to banking regulations.

That's a rather absurd comment when I said I want vouchers for enough money that poor kids will be able to afford to take the voucher to a good private school.

If you don't make the voucher for enough money, we'll still have government-run schools.

We've been over this ... you need a new shtick that doesn't begin with propagandizing against the Democratic Party.

And why would anyone assume that new private schools would not start up that would operate at the same funding per student as public schools receive ?? Charter schools operate with much less.

The cause of the GFC was government banking regulations. That’s got nothing to do with any Party.

You may not like government-run schools (I don't and I worked in them for three decades), but they are reasonably efficient in terms of using economic inputs. My problem with them is the lousy education they deliver. But let's say such schools will open up. We can always adjust the voucher amount up or down to reflect market conditions.

Charter schools have a mixed record despite their ability to hire and fire, adapt teaching methods, etc. It's largely because they're underfunded, too.

Teacher salaries are not enough to attract quality instructors in mathematics, the sciences, trades, and computers. Worse still, in those fields (except math) your skills rot in four or five years--why would you teach if you're interested in making money?

The reason teachers don't teach in private schools, and the reason they strongly support unions, is protection against unfair evaluations and termination. How many parents strut around saying, "I'm going to go down to that school and get Mr. Jones fired?" In a system where performance means nothing, even teachers doing a good job have little defense against Joe Principal coming into their classroom and saying they're doing a lousy job.

I think the system sucks and needs changing, but it's easy to go wrong and make things worse.

The system sucks because there is no competition.

That's most of it, IMO. I think it's also underfunded, even if you count some of the waste.

Yeah, that’s it. Why send them to school at all. (Tongue in cheek)
I know more about education and public education than the Secretary of Education. I certainly want kids to have choices but I want them to be fair. We can make the public schools into mini schools and make each one like a charter school. That’s what we did in our school and it was absolutely incredible. Then there are other things like my daughter who is a counselor in high school , has. It is a program where they take kids who are bright but do very poorly in school and follow them and guide them and work with them. These kids are committed and if they don’t work hard in this program they cannot stay. She just told me that every single one of her seniors is going to college. These kids have told her that they never dreamed they would be able to go to college. But of course ...they’re cutting the funding . Fortunately her school is just going to take the money from something else and put it back into this super successful program. The beauty of this program is that these kids don’t fall through the cracks.

You don’t think there’s competition in classes, no matter what school it is?

liberals are intellectual lightweights? Yep, the uneducated trump loves so much because he said they’ll defend him no matter what are the intellects?? And we march in lockstep? You’re getting so screwed by this tax bill and you’ll march in lockstep to defend it.

I follow the reports in education. It could very well be, but surprisingly we don’t hear about it.

You have this inflated view of your intellectual abilty that does not exist in reality

It seems the left can only build themselves up by tearing conservatives down

Oh my, I didn’t realize you knew me in reality! You do realize how funny and dumb you sound when you say that only the left can build themselves up by tearing conservatives down. And then what do you do? you tear down this liberal to build yourself up. Grow up
