HIGHER turnout for younger voters on top of a TWO to ONE margin in favor of the DEMS means that these students are MOTIVATED to VOTE against the GOP.

I am a faculty member at a university, advising graduate students, just like the one who got shot at Chapel Hill. We now ALWAYS have to think about the possibility of a student going postal if they run into trouble.

I also teach large classes. My son just started college sitting in classes. You bet I am worried that some nut walks in there armed to the teeth and starts shooting.

But, thanks to the NRA and their paid-for GOP Congress critters, nothing will ever happen other than: Thoughts and prayers, or: It's too soon to talk about possible policies to prevent these things.

The gun nuts are holding the rest of the country hostage. They are personally responsible for this ongoing carnage, because they stand in the way of even the most reasonable reform.

I am so sick and tired of people living in fear of mass shootings. I never ONCE in my life had to think about mass shootings before I came to the US. This is a solvable problem, if there is a will. Unfortunately, the rabid gun-loving minority is too powerful to allow ANY change.

The rightwing SCrOTUS does bear MUCH responsibility for their INSANE misinterpretation of the 2A that has ENABLED their "War on American Lives" to be waged in our malls, supermarkets, movies and campuses across the nation.

 

The first real step in purging our minds of "fear" is to realize, accurately, exactly what it is that we are afraid of, and WHY! If we can't even do that intelligently, then we'll continue to just be herded around like unthinking barnyard animals by every political faction with an "axe to grind".

Assuming that it's one variety of human beings or another that make you afraid, which groups of humans are the ones that make you fearful? What is it they do that makes you fearful? What can you do to make everyone behave in a civil way that complies with the very necessary rule of LAW and ORDER?

Until we answer these questions truthfully, we'll get nowhere beyond the point we're at already.

I advocate that we do what Israel does for its schools. Walls around the schools with guards at the gates and entry ways to buildings along with police patrolling the area at irregular intervals.
