Quoting Biden's speech is playing the race card? So I should just shut up and take my seat in the back of the bus?

No. Quoting his speech is not playing the race card. Quoting his speech and injecting your own personal narrative of racism is playing the race card. If you want to find racism, I am sure you can...with anyone.

No. Do not shut up. That would be counter-productive in a political forum.

I am going to like your post because although we see things differently, you welcome a dialog which is why I am here, i.e., to have a well reasoned argument with people I disagree with on issues.

I am not sure what the big deal is. Small businesses are not going to get anything out of any relief bill anyways, so why worry about it. Small businesses have limited resources to fill out papaerwork and apply for government handouts. By focusing on race, I know that any relief or benefit package will be accompanied by an orange crate full of paperwork so there is no way I am going to be able to take a productive worker of doing something that will help the cash flow on the off chance that someone in the leadership of a political party has even the slightest clue as to what they would need to do to help save a small business on the brink.

The last stimulus package (the one with the supposedly free money) went to no small businesses that I knew of. The banks doled out the loans to those companies with fewer than 500 employees who were well enough off, and with enough clout to shove their way to the front of the line. In Oregon, the overwhelming majority of the stimulus relief went companies that were earning over 750 million a year. The loans were available at 8AM on a Monday and the funds were exhausted at 8:01 AM.

Furthermore, the loans were administered by the Small Business Administration which scared away anyone with any sense at all. If you had a choice between getting a loan from a mafia don or the SBA, I think most small business owners would rather go to the mafia don. The very few actual small business owners that I knew personally that were able to get in line for the last covid relief money ended up turning it down when they saw the strings attached.

So what difference does it make? If it is truly a small business, they are not going to be able to fill out the paperwork to establish that they are minority owned and the money will just end up in the hands of small business that are small in name only. Feel free to spend your grandchildren into debt slavery, but please do not do it on my behalf.

it is not debt slavery, the 'paperwork' ascertains handouts.

    loans are for the poor.
