Instead of attacking the poster, you could answer the question. As a moderator I would have assumed you would at least answer the question even though you attack the poster.

Perhaps, as a moderator, you should revisit the rules of the forum, before entertaining the thought of posting such things.

She answered the question, but in a ironical way.

This was not a personal attack. Stop making things up.

oh yes, I see the answer, by assuming that the poster is white and Christian, means...oh, that is right. That nobody that is not, is not Australian. call it Ironic as much as you like, assuming and posting MAK's belief of what the poster racial and religious beliefs are not answers to the question, of what do you consider to be an Australian.

Defend, if you like, I do not care, she attacked the poster and did not even attempt to answer the question, I note was not even directed to her. attempting to infer, that the original poster, is the standard of answer, is not an answer.

So stop complaining about it and report it if that's how you feel. If you won't report it then drop it as it's a ridiculous argument. "Yes she did, no she didn't, yes she did".

Waste everyone's time, go ahead. And stop playing the martyr, it's boring. If you wish to self flagellate then feel free to do so.

You still don't get it. She did not assume something about a poster.

    The question was:
    The answer was:
    Easier for you:
Q: What makes a person an Australian?
    A: Being white, loving Jesus.

You assume too much. Try to think a bit before posting next time. It doesn't hurt. I tried.

Go back and read the post I was responding to, and perhaps then you will understand the context. The post wasn't directed at the member at all.

So, this post was not directed to the comment of maggie44? The question was pointed to maggie44. So, you respond in such a manner?

I do not mean to drag this in for argument but that is the way I saw it, I stand by my understanding of what you where responding to.

maggie44 be right or wrong IYO, you have not actually helped to progress the debate or even change minds with comments such as that. The fact is it simply creates animosity and drives others away from providing a different stance.

The one thing you do not seem to understand (along many others) you only need to have one bad experience with a group of people to tarnish the rest with the same brush. You criticize one whom has come to the conclusion and being a woman, I can completely understand. Many nationalities are actually insulted to have a woman, in anyway, in charge of any aspect of their life, as they have been taught, that women are of little consequence. We can ignore this point but you, yourself can not understand how anyone can treat a woman with such disdain, different strokes, for different folks. I am sure if you and others simply talked to this person you would be able to show there are many examples in what she does, possibly out weigh the negatives, changing the point of view of the person your intended ridicule was contrived.

Looks like other people, including me, understood the context. Who are you to know better what a poster meant than the poster herself?

I f you don't like personal attacks, why don't you stop attacking Mak personally?

It was on topic, you may agree or not agree with the point she made, but this is part of a discussion.

Mak is female, too, and she is in charge at this forum. What is your point here?

My point? Being in charge has what exactly to do with what I said at this point?

Being a Woman? As a woman living in a country that hold women to a higher standard than many countries she would find it hard to believe that many nationalities treat women so badly. I would be very surprised as a woman she would have enough empathy to understand how badly women are treated around the world.

My point is that with Maggie44 (IMO is mistaken) it is easy to understand how she comes to the conclusions she has, with so many of these people being of a nationality that has total disdain for women in positions of power. If instead of ridicule, discussed experiences of people in these positions (also IMO obviously is a far better authority than those who would ridicule, if position is true) then a change of perspective and understanding could be reached.

You brought this woman thing here. Look at Maggies posts, she only made five of them so far, it shouldn't be that difficult. She calls a lot of people worthless, why do you defend her?

Yes, I did bring the women thing here. I do not suggest anything otherwise. I also point out that most women living in this country, that has not lived in this style of life, can not understand how people can treat women as such. Do you question who raised that point?

I defend her, not because I agree with her, but because I know that when you talk to the people who are directly involved with these people ( as I have and do regularly) you quickly learn that it is a minority of people, they see, generally cause them to bring this conclusion. Being a woman, she has these people openly show disdain for her and her position. Usually after talking to these people you gradually hear talk of good experiences and most of the people have more good experiences than bad. It is just that the bad stand out on there mind.

To understand, that best way is to think what is the advertisements you think of first. Then think of five more. Why do you remember them. Because most of them are terrible ads, not good ones. You will actually need reminding that there are many good adverts out there.

So there is no bad treatment or violance against white, Christian women? You have no flag and you are not female, why should I take your word for it?

Do you know her? Or do you know all these things because of of few xenophobic posts she made?

    What?

You do not have to take my word for anything. I do not suggest you should. I am telling you my experience, if you do not believe me, I do not care. As for your narrowing my words, to simply white, Christian women, that is yours not mine. I point out it is treatment given to ALL women from many nationalities. believe it or not I do not care.
No I do not personally know her( I am pretty sure, but could be mistaken) but the sentiment is experienced in many women who have much to do with asylum seekers. Unfortunately, just because women in this and many countries have burnt the bra( so to speak) does not mean it has cottoned on world wide.

If you do not understand the exercise I guess you would not get out of it the intended.

So, sorry for that, I assumed it would have been understood.

Nothing like defending the bigoted, eh, Garry?

Garry has something in common with Maggie - he doesn't like boat people either, but for different reasons than Maggie. He doesn't like them for jumping the ficticious and imaginary queue.

Plus Garry was in the room with that woman and witnessed everything!! That's why he knows so much about it.

Yes, it's perfectly normal for a social worker to call other humans "worthless" and "barbarians". Aint it? And good to see that Garry has his heart in the right place defending a woman being derogatory and callous to fellow human beings.

You said, women in Australia ahve no idea about bad treatment. Wouldn't this mean, white, Christian women get all treated well?

If this is true, these institutions should hire better people. I wonder why stupid, xenophobic hags apply for these jobs at all.

    Explain it.

Should a bigot, call a bigot, a bigot? one should not cast dispersions unless your free from it yourself, as you show below your are not.
Lovely misrepresentation of previous comments. Can I ask, where did I say I do not like asylum seekers? Bet you can not find it.
Should have listened to parliament today, when they where debating the amendments to the asylum laws, maybe you can get a copy of the Hansard. It would seem your PM, your immigration minister in fact all your politicians agree there is a Queue. Apparently, you are the only one who does not believe it yet. Aren't you in for a shock when it dawns on you that there is.

Obviously, you have a vivid imagination, shame it is only used to attempt to insult others that do not share you insecurity
And you are not of coarse. you are showing you empathy to her and them as well. Your ability to dream up derogatory statements could be used to create a far better debate than you previous attempts. Learning a little more would not hurt either. But you have a closed mind and basically there is nothing you will not consider if it dies not suit your stance. ARE YOU PAULINE HANSAN?

Well, If you really believe (which I am sure you do not) that MAK believes only white, Christians are Australian citizens. However, bit of a short straw you pulled there. no many women, born in countries that hold women to a higher regard have no real idea of how bad the treatment can get for women in some countries. They believe they do, but reality shows, they can not conceive how people could treat them in such a way. Truthfully it is very hard to take, in some countries.

You have to remember, in Australia it takes no great study or intelligence, to be a social worker. As for being Xenophobic, I hold my judgement until there is more from this person ( of which I do not think there will be) to really ascertain if this person is genuine.

Did you do the exercise? if you had you would notice that it is actually correct. For one very good reason, people remember more what they dislike than what they like. Advertising is keyed to that very premise. All ad companies know one thing, either the ad's have to be very funny or extremely bad and annoying . These are the ads you remember. Because it is extremely hard to make ad's funny to all, it is easy to make extremely annoying ads. Another ploy is to bombard the people with the same ad even running them twice in the same segments
