For pro-Trump Republicans, Liz Cheney is the pain that won't go away

They are really after her now. All she has done is speak truth to power. But Facts and Truth have no value to Trumpians. who seem to thrive on conspiracy theories and Trump lies. Their delusions about Trump not losing is becoming a psychological condition.on a collective level........and is destroying the Rep party........or changing it into something unknown as an entity.

I don't really know, Wyoming is Cheney country but lets face it, they are the old guard and the new guard loves Trump. One thing about them though, they do not pander so if they try to mess with her, she is going to give it back in spades.

Battle between Republican leaders Cheney and McCarthy reaching boiling point

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/co...=857693951420692326&utm_medium=Email Sailthru

Hot mike.....revealed Mccarthy's true feelings and they were pretty ugly. He seems desperate to win favors with Trump. Trump still has a hold on the R party.......... and this cannot help to move things along and be productive.

It is sad to watch this kind of behavior..... in folks that are supposed to be making serious decisions for the country.

I've been involved with various businesses throughout my working years. I have worked in poor communities and elite groups and everything in between. I can tell you with absolute certainty that NONE of the people were different. Just imagine the "Jerry Springer Show" with the people in nicer clothes and vehicles. You wouldn't believe me if I told you some of the nonsense I've seen.

I don't think Liz Cheney can survive in the current republican party and to be honest I hope she doesn't. I think the republican party needs to break up. I don't know Cheney's policy positions well but I had assumed she probably supports positions right of me and I would guess we differ on international policies and social issues. I would rather conservatives like Cheney and Romney start a new republican party and although I was never overly fond of them in the past I would rather align with that part of that party than the new republican party.

I like your idea of starting another conservative party. I also like the idea of having three parties. Two parties seems to be too polarizing.

The ONLY thing the two agree on is no third party.

Romney and Les Cheney aren't conservative. If you want to start a new war mongering wing of the Democrat party, well there's two you can have....and be so kind as to take fellow WW3 advocate Nikki over rated as **** Haley too please.

See above. Cheney and Romney are two of the biggest grifters alive. You want swamp, they'll give you swamp. Kickback queen and King. Somebody had to replace McCain....ISIS kickback extraordinaire.

I suspect that at sometime in the future the Trump Republicans will succeed in getting Cheney fired from her number position in the Republican House hierarchy. Then in 2022, I'm sure Trumpers will primary her out if she decides to run again. Now if I were Liz, I'd run in 2022 as an independent and split the Republican vote, thus perhaps letting the Democrat win.

Then again Murkowski in 2010 was defeated in the GOP primary by tea party candidate Joe Miller. Lisa then ran as an independent write in campaign and won the general election. Murkowski owes nothing to the Republican Party who tried to defeat her, Cheney owes nothing to the Republican Party for the treatment she has received from them. I'm of the mind that any elected official should be able to vote their conscious. when a political party tries to strong arm someone from voting their conscious or the way that someone thinks right, as far as I'm concerned, that party doesn't belong in the American political system.

Perhaps summing up, Liz Cheney has been a loyal Republican all her life, although she isn't a loyal Trumpist. Isn't it ironic all those Republicans are siding with a seven time party switcher who's only been a Republican for the third time since 2012. These are insane political times we live in today.

Why does the current GOP demand conformity? They are quickly becoming a cult.

While I am no fan of her father, Liz Cheney is her own person and seems to use critical thinking skills to make decisions.
What a horrible politician! (sarcasm on)
Both parties seem to be reaching disgusting partisan levels, forgoing wise decisions for political ones.
Republicans seem to be worse at the moment, but the Dems are very capable at it, and will be more competitive in that regard at some point. I wish there were more independent candidates, but we (as a group) keep voting for the R or D, much of the time out of "fear" of the other.

Liz Cheney says in op-ed that GOP must pick true conservative values over ‘dangerous and anti-democratic Trump cult of personality’

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...0.RQtmXO1JZD4nF14NoNJllFQ9gDrljT4NJoDIqAoN10Y

she has a point. The R party seems to be behaving more like a cult than a proper political party.that has a set of values that base their decisions for the country. It is as if the R party is in an identity & existential crisis.

*Shudder* please don't take the GOP back to the old days of social conservatism.

Actually, maybe this would force Democrats to adopt their old free speech views that made me fall for them in the first place...

From what I've read, she will likely lose her chair, but not her next election.

Truth is not what the R party knows anymore.

They hooked their wagons to a 2X impeached, voted out of office as an incumbent, loser who cost the R's the House, Senate, and WH is 4 yrs. A remarkable feat.

In demoting Liz Cheney, the Republican Party holds on to Trump - and risks further alienating critical swing voters

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/co...=857693951420692326&utm_medium=Email Sailthru

Astonishing to watch a person being purged this way.......

There is a certain jungle quality to how McCarthy et al are operating. When the Big lie is accepted to the degree it ruins those telling the truth.........there is a huge credibility issue with the GOP now. If this is a glimpse into the future of the GOP...........then a whole new set of "standards" are factoring in............and they are based on Trump falsehoods. The question remains: what will the GOP stand for as this exorcism of fact based and reasoned folks takes place.

The truth and facts don't matter .........when a sociopathic personality rules the group.Trump's psychological grasp over his followers is truly astonishing ........and concerning. Critical and independent thought is out the window.
The only reason Trump speaks of " election integrity " is because he lost.
