No. Trump commutes Gates sentence because he was an accomplice in his crimes.

The OP is correct. Rule of law no longer matters to Trump loyalists.

Did you just accuse people objecting to violent rioting of being racists? Asking for a friend.

He is draining the swamp obviously. One of the main elements of a metaphorical swamp draining is using presidential power to shield your friends from consequences for their crimes, that is obvious!!

If you've read Trump's unhinged, lie packed screed that announced Stone's commutation you know this is about more than making a mockery of the rule of law. It's Trump's way of trying to repudiate the Mueller investigation in its entirety. And that tells us all something very revealing. If Don really believed Billy the Bagman's ridiculous effort to dismiss Mueller's findings (including 4 counts of demonstrable obstruction) would he still be seeking to excuse the criminals caught in the investigation?

Mueller himself repudiated the Mueller investigation. It was just another in a long list of "magic" the malcontent dems dreamt up in an attempt to oust Trump.

He did no such thing. You should try reading his report instead of relying on trumpist disinformation about it.

Clearly the guy is in trouble. But let's not underestimate Rasmussen's ability to manipulate polls. They show negative numbers so at the right moment they can produce the headline "Trump Approval Rating Dramatically Improves"... or something to that effect. They have done this many times in the past.

Mocks justice? Hmm, I can think of quite a few ways of mocking justice, one would be to run an investigation where we know the crime(collusion with the Russian government) didn't happen, and we knew this as late as January 2017. If the FBI had any sense of responsibility(and it didn't), it would have closed the file then(oh and it would've told us this testimony that was secret to the House publicly) and there wouldn't have even been the OPPORTUNITY for Stone to commit any of his crimes.

That would be the Mueller team loaded up with biased Hillary Clinton supporting prosecutors and lead by a man who revealed himself to be less than mentally all there during his testimony on his own report?

Does it go like this "I Robert Mueller repudiate the Mueller investigation"? That is what the copy I found on Breitbart said...

    Did you? All of it?

Yes and it found it was to be little more than a huge waste of taxpayer money as evidenced by the fact is was hardly mentioned a week after the diddling democrats moved on to their next manufactured crisis.

We were told there were Russians, we were told the President could be an asset or compromised by the Russians. That was the primary selling point to the farce. And the Mueller Report essentially says "there's nothing there", and that was backed up by IG Horowitz.

Further, Manafort's asset seizure doesn't give it a win column either considering that the DOJ/IRS could have prosecuted it with its own financial division. Hell, there is NOTHING that could have stopped then-AG Sessions from overseeing that.

I'd love for the people in that room to testify publicly on what even gave the so-called "appearance" of a conflict of interest. Especially since the FBI was aware in 2017 that the Steele Dossier had no credibility, even as Comey had testified privately they'd yet to vouch it.

Let's be clear: The russian investigation was indeed a hoax, one of the greatest hoax's pulled in the history of the federal Republic.
And even long after Trump is gone, the FBI as an institution is torn to shreds.

We can chase "noose's" and 18 year old girl rug burns, but has the FBI even announced its assistance for an 8 year old girl's murder?

And yet Trump is still in office. How can that be with all the boilerplate evidence Mueller dug up for the American people?

*Stone, in fact, said the corrupt part out loud, in a conversation with NBC’s Howard Fineman shortly before Trump’s announcement. “He knows I was under enormous pressure to turn on him,” Stone told Fineman. “It would have eased my situation considerably. But I didn’t.”*
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/07/11/trumps-self-serving-help-roger-stone/
The takeaway here isn't hard to figure out. “He knows I was under enormous pressure to turn on him,”...............meaning..............Stone didn't tell the damaging info he knew about.

    What information was that?

"A former top Trump campaign official on Tuesday testified that President Donald Trump talked to political trickster Roger Stone about WikiLeaks during the 2016 campaign.
That testimony by Rick Gates at Stone’s trial contrasts with Trump’s claim last November that he did not recall speaking to Stone about WikiLeaks, the document disclosure group that during the 2016 campaign released emails stolen from the Democratic Party and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s own campaign chief.

Gates testified in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., that less than a minute after finishing a July 2016 call from Stone, Trump indicated that “more information would be coming” from Wikileaks."

    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/11/12/trump-had-call-with-roger-stone-about-wikileaks-rick-gates-says.html
I'd say Stone earned more than a commutation for obstructing the investigation. He should get a penthouse suite in Trump Tower or a permanent room at Mar-A-Lago. Because if Stone hadn't betrayed the country, justice, and basic decency Individual 1 may very well have been impeachment for conspiracy (with Wikileaks) to defraud the voting public. This, on top of the 4 counts of obstruction Mueller provided evidence of in his report.
