They're never going to admit it's all about votes. The naïve college kids will believe their propaganda that it's all about humanitarian reasons, but anyone with half a brain knows what's going on. The more people dependent on them, the more votes, the more power.

These detention centers are a direct result of Trump's policies. As I have said before, they should have simply had more surveillance and guards and simply pushed them back. It would have forced Mexico to take a proactive stance on this issue because without their cooperation it will only get worse.

If you truly believe that is an option, then you have absolutely NO clue as to what is really happening on the border. It is not like we have enough border guards to "push them back".....and it is virtually impossible to have enough guards to cover all areas of the border at all times. That is why a barrier is needed. To slow up the crossing so that agents have time to respond. However, I do agree that more surveillance cameras and other items are needed in conjunction with the barrier. If the agents do not know someone is attempting to get through the barrier, then they will not know to respond.

And, no, then situation at the detention centers are a direct result of over-crowding. While I do not hold Trump blameless, he is not the only on worthy of blame. The atmosphere of welcoming that the Democrats and Sanctuary Cities are creating play a huge part in the attraction to people wanting to enter our country illegally.

FYI, walls don't work if there is nobody to man them. Obviously you are blind to the images and video of people scaling the wall. If you need more guards, get them.

The detention centers are a direct result of Trump's policies.

Do you have any idea how long our border is with Mexico? More guards will help, but there is absolutely NO way to have enough man-power to cover the whole thing at all times. Obviously you are ignorant of the actual situation on the border. Yes, people can scale walls, but it is not easy. They would also need to carry a ladder (a large ladder) across miles of barren land that is difficult to trek even with the few items the refugees carry. I suppose they could carry a rope, but having women, children, and elderly climb a rope can be challenging. The images of people scaling the wall are often closer to populated areas where patrol CAN reach quickly and they are not crossing in mass when they scale the walls.

FYI, you obviously have never been to the area. There is Ft Bliss at El Paso, TX, and then there is Ft Huachuca, Sierra Vista, AZ. There is nothing but desert in between and without adequate water, you will die. In addition, those places have an air defense and a signal school, respectively, and could test some their equipment on this situation, if appropriate.

Not many guards needed there. Again you must not have seen the images nor the videos.

I have been the whole length of our southern border. You are talking about a small area of the border. Between those two areas, you have the town of Douglas that has development on both sides of the border. You also have Mexico Hwy #2 that parallels the border from the southwest portion of New Mexico to Douglas. Going east from where Hwy 2 pulls away from the border, it goes to Janos and then heads back Northeast to Juarez. Yes, many parts of that area is barren, but there are many agricultural farms between Hwy 2 and the border...at least in the area of the New Mexico bend.

In El Paso, there are numerous Mexico licensed vehicles that could very well smuggle people. No wall is going to stop anything. Without water, people would die out there.

I'm am not disagreeing with you on the need for water or whether a wall/barrier is the ultimate answer. You are correct, a wall in itself will not stop anything in the long run....especially if it is not patrolled and monitored. However, it will impede and make it less desirable as a crossing point. There are many places along our border that is nothing more than a 4 strand barbwire fence. Some places, this barb-wire fencing is in such disarray that it is pretty much non-existent. This makes these area ideal places to cross as it is easy to just walk across....even if the trek is long to get to these areas and requires water to be carried.

Having barbed wire or something of that nature is fine, but surveillance, i.e., drones would be ideal for this situation and having those military bases would be a perfect staging area for such tasks.

These detention centers are not helping the situation.

The barb wire is not cutting it (pun intended). It is very easy to cross a barbwire fence, especially if nobody is around for any length of time. yes, drones would be useful, but they are not practical in all areas. The operator need to be in fairly close proximity to the drone (I'm assuming you are talking about small drones and not military drones). they can also be shot down with shot-guns.

The detention centers have been there for over 20 years that I know of. They were never meant to hold and feed the vast numbers of refugees we have coming across today. They were meant to be short term facilities and not long term. However, because "the system" is so overwhelmed, they are being used for long term as well. The quick and easy answer is to hire more guards or more judges. That answer is normally presented without knowledge or thought into the problem. There are not enough judges available for hire....and if there was, there are not enough facilities for them to work in. There is also not enough doctors, cooks, and other care takers. This is not a problem where we can throw more money at for processing and call it good. We need to stem the tide of the vast numbers.

I feel like Democrats are responsible for this because they seem to be encouraging illegals to flood into the country. They stated the crisis at the border was manufactured (fake news) while they set up sanctuary cities and refused to work with ICE as our #MSM beat the drums constantly of how "We are welcoming everyone" to our cities. They obstructed the wall and funding for border patrol to the point that the National Guard had to be dispatched. This was like ringing the dinner bell and they came as fast as they could.

Once the detention centers became overwhelmed, they blamed Trump for this crisis and flooded the region with as many cameras as possible to show just how inhuman Trump and his Administration is. It's impossible at this point for DHS/ICE and border patrol to keep up with the flood they are experiencing. Much to the delight of Democrats who can now scream their outrage at someone else, when it is they who created it. Did you see Cummings, yesterday at the hearing with DHS? Cummings is a fraud.

Democrats visit and lie about what is happening and #MSM carries those all over the world. It's a disaster the Democrats have created (in part) and they fuel at every opportunity. They don't care about these people other than to use them for party gain and to hopefully garner votes from their misery. They have even posted fake pictures or pictures that were taken under the Obama Administration to bolster the fake narrative.

Party > Country seems to be what the Democrats stand for when it comes to immigration. They should just fix it, but they never will because it doesn't help their cause. The real losers in all of this are the American people and especially the Middle Class.

We're providing three square meals, medical, dental and vision as well as a roof over their heads free of charge. These are not our citizens we are spending these billions of dollars on. Perhaps if they don't appreciate our resorts they should wait on the other side until their paperwork has been fully processed.

FYI, drones operated by the military in the ME are controlled in the USA.

More guards and security, push them back to Mexico.

As I said, I assumed you were not talking about using military drones. Using military drones has many issues. First, each mission is expensive. Second, there are Constitutional and political issues with extended use of military drones on our border.

While military drone use on the southern border has picked up, it still is not enough to fully monitor the border. I suspect that military drone use will be come much more common and drone use itself (non-military) will certainly pick up. I suspect that drone use will be a main staple of border security and it is already becoming so. However, Congress is going to have to address the issue as it will become a Constitutional, legal, and political issue at some point....if it has not already reached that point.

Yes my mistake on the military drones. I agree that the drones will be used in greater numbers soon enough.

This issue on the border is much more complicated than just saying "hire more people", or "it's Trump's fault", or "it's the Democrat's fault". I blame our Congress as a whole. I also do blame Trump. I also blame Sanctuary Cities. I also blame those that try to impede border security every chance that they get. The one people I do not blame is those people that want to come to our country for a better life....I just do not think how some are going about it is the correct way.

So is your solution open borders then? Just let 'em go knowing they'll never show up in court?

Then what is your solution? I personally like the position of our President having the asylum seekers wait in Mexico.

Well, I have lots of solutions I'd like to consider, but no, I don't advocate forcing them to wait in another country when they are seeking asylum in this country. Most of them show up for their hearings and imprisoning them is insanely expensive, so I'd only want to imprison them in the most extreme cases, and I definitely don't want to imprison children. I'm 100% against imprisoning people who turned themselves in at a port of entry because that's imprisoning people who haven't committed any crime. I'm personally not fond of that. I'm also generally against imprisoning those who crossed the border illegally because that is imprisoning people for a misdemeanor. But there will always be exceptions.

One thing we could do is have more judges hearing these cases. That would help. And stop the anti-immigrant tirades which just make people panic and try to get here faster. It is legal to seek asylum in this country. My solution is to continue supporting that legal right.

    - Most of them show up for their hearings

    That's unfortunately just not true.

"A recent report from the Department of Justice shows that of the nearly 12,500 illegal alien adults who were apprehended with children at the U.S. border and released between July 18, 2014, and May 26, 2015, whose immigration cases have been completed, at least 84 percent did not appear in court for the final decision."

    https://www.cnsnews.com/news/articl...gal-alien-adults-not-court-final-case-hearing

More border judges would certainly help. But we still have to do something with all these masses of people. Seems we can either keep them in Mexico, house them in over-crowded facilities or catch and release and not see them again.
