I should have taken that into account when I was posting essentially a "We've escaped the worst part of it" post. Which I think will still ultimately apply, but now we really need New York to get a firm handle on it. Epicenters is where the viruses really spread out. Because it's not just NY Residents, but friends who travel to NY or NY Residents who travel to other States.

 

No! The people who supported him screwed up..royally! He has a long history of being a self-serving racketeering grifter but they voted for him anyway and they will again. These are Jim Jones caliber folks who are willing to die on this hill for birther Trump.

 

Let's be real here: As I analyze the situation more and more(and we see states like CA/NY, which are NOT Trump states in the least.), we really likely only had a 2-day window to control this: When planes were landing at or around December 2019/January 2020. The moment we didn't immediately close off NY/CA, this was going to happen.

Which is why we shouldn't blame Trump. The blame is to China for not only releasing this virus, but the unreliability of their information and desire to restrict their own medications. Seriously F China, as Americans this should be our sentiment. No more trade with nations that wanna kill us.

Well. Compared to the 61 million infected Americans we had during Obama's "This is how it's done" crisis handling, we're still WAY BETTER. Let's keep it this way? After all, we don't want to have anything like Obama's success?

we will never know how many Americans infected under Trump with Corona, some say Trump may have tried to delay testing to hide the numbers form the public early on - now normally I would say a President would not do that, but this is the same President that lied about the weather and used a magic marker to try and cover up his lies

most are saying most Americans will get it, so by your standards, that is many more than Obama, so Trump must be handling it way worse

So you are saying that 18 out of 250 patients dying in a few weeks is normal. Obviously the CDC doesn't agree. So who are you?

 

Slow it down. Hope for a cycle and herd immunity to kick in. The trouble is, Tom Hanks and his wife caught it in Australia, where it's summer now. So it doesn't look encouraging that this will taper off with warmer weather.

At the least, by flattening the infection rate curve, it allows time for hospitals to respond and helps to reduce the surge load on the resources needed to manage this. For example, in Italy they were having to decide who lives and who dies based on the number of respirators available.

good point, they are not sure this one will go away in the summer, cause it last so long on surfaces

yep, trying to slow the spread is mainly because of medical resources, won't change the number infected, but could allow them better treatment if they need it - don't want to hospitals to have to decide who lives and who dies because of lack of medical equipment

Things could improve. We may gain a herd immunity with time. And the virus might mutate to a less deadly form. That often happens. Heck, It's possible I've already had it. I was sick for two months with a lower respiratory illness that I couldn't shake. It started in December. That might have even been a related strain that provides immunity to the bad one. So you never know. But the bottom line is that the best thing we can do is to slow the spread as much as possible.

agree, slowing the spread is really all we can do.. Till there is a vaccine
