Why be like that? He sold off national assets (you're against that); he signed us up to the JSF without consideration of defence needs (i think you're against that); He tried to frak us over re the PBS (you'd be against that); he gave wealthy people (and corporations) extra with private health subsidies and super tax breaks that most help the wealthier (you'd be against that); he sent us to an illegal and strategically flawed war that saw little but massive extortion by US corporations and massive death and misery. And his government was somehow involved in the AWB 'scandal' etc, etc. Stuff that you'd be opposed to yet you make a trite and pointless (unless it's sole purpose is to bait/troll) comment like that. Why?

Because TV was getting himself all worked up, foaming at the mouth, spraying spittle everywhere calling John Howard a turd, a slob and an egocentric nutter. He really needed to have a cup of tea and calm down.

It seems to have become the latest Labor/Green fashion to spout political propagander and meaningless political slogans about how bad John Howard was. Now it looks like you have been caught up in this latest fashion too. The fact is John Howard has not held office for 6 years so is now largely irrelevent and in my opinion (and I was working and raising a family long before Hawke was elected) The coalition government lead by John Howard was a far better government than the previous Labor government lead by Hawke and then Keating. Howard was a strong man, he stayed in power the whole way. Labor leaders never last more than a couple of years before one of there own mates stabs them in the back. During the Howard years Australia expierenced its second golden decade after the 60's. After 13 years of Labor it was like coming out of the dark ages. But of course it is Labor fashion to say that Howard cannot be credited with anything good, it was always something external or a carry over from the Labor years, or it was actually Labor policy that he was implementing. For God's sake, take the Labor blinkers off your eyes and mind and wake up!!

Little deceptive johnny howard was a turd and an ego-centric nutter. He rode on the back of keatings excellent clean up work to pull us miles ahead of other developed countries after howard as treasuerer friggged us over. The slob sat on his filthy hands doing nothing for the Australian people and rode off the back of a bounding world economy, only to look at bringing in work choices when the economy started to become too difficult for him to manage. The stupid prrricck could have established our position earlier but was simply worried about keeping himself in power. One of the happiest days in my life was seeing this cruel ego-centric slob get his assss booted out of the PM's position but rejected by his own direct constituents. There is much this fool could have done for Australia, but watched laughing as everyone indebted themselves up to their eyeballs hoping he would have us over a barrel for decades to come. If he governed during challenging world economies such as what labor are doing now and had to do in the eighties and 90's, we would be rooooted....simple as that. He was a fool who only had the corporate world as his vested interest

The NBN, BER, NDIS, Record Health Funding, roll back of work choices, ETS, apology to stolen generation, massive road infrastructure, just to name a few others.......basically "everything" the turd howard did not do in his term of government. Remember he spruiked off about the $80Billion he had saved in the future fund and led us to believe it was for Australia's future, but was simply a fund for public servant superannuation's - He sold $70billion worth of our assets to stick in this fund for his buddies....oh and himself. He had to make sure they were well looked after for the "Future", which is only reasonable....hmmmmm!!!

Not really fair Panzer as the other lot never had the opportunity to show they could do the same. And if you ask a lot of Mum and Dads, I am not sure avoided would be a term they would support. Perhaps cushioned would be better. I don't think anyone avoided the downturn.

Just expressing the truth........he was a ego-centric fool. Retrospect is the best gauge and reason why we should not allow this mob to get a hold of our economy. Not until they change their position or policy on fiscal matters!

Ahhh yes far better to sell our country out to the extremist greens. Retrospect hey, lets see how they rank with the typical Aussie

Galaxy poll voters vote John Howard Australia's best Prime Minister

JOHN Howard has been overwhelmingly backed as the country's best prime minister of the past quarter of a century in a new poll, which ranks Julia Gillard last.

It's about Howard, not about Truth.

Did you read what i said slightly earlier?

"Largely irrelevant", followed by the "second golden age", please make up your mind.

Both political parties hack the previous' record. It's your job to see through that - in both directions. That's why i said what i said. First, i credited Howard and co, then later criticised him to show you why i thought your response was somewhat 'one-eyed'. I don't get you, half of your conspiratorial 'discussions' (some might say ravings) are in areas where you would be in total and complete disagreement with Howard and the Libs but because you hate Gillard and climate change experts you mostly (not entirely) avoid hacking at the Libs. This thread, as all, and your responses to Truth deserve balance.

Hack them both. Stick to your ideals, even if they are wrong ;)

I can see why he'd be up there. But i'd rate Rudd over him.

No link to the methodology though, sloppy journalism?

Unfortunately for Rudd, the ALP that he resided over was and had changed greatly and did not entirely share his visions that did not include feel good greenies. So he was left largely alone in his drive for solid policy and positive change.

That and he was largely a pecker head that everyone hated.

Sure is strange slippery, this is how i look at it, about Rudd,

    1. He gave the QE in 2008 (GFC) to the people instead of the bankers. ouch that must have stung them.

    2. He called for Australia to have a national bank, and he was labelled a communist by Hockey and Abbott, wonder what the bankers thought? maybe a sniper?

    3. He wanted to do something about pollution but wasn't sure which way to go and when we should enter the arena.

Those three things imo had the puppet masters up in arms, enter JuLIAR (BRUTUS) Gillard, they found their puppet, and she has performed well for the puppet masters indeed.

Is that it TV? Is that really all you`ve got to answer a legitimate question?
Your response looks like a submission, not a graceful one either.

Its not legitimate, it's a cheap shot that has no context to historical factors I was raising. While ever the coalition are in bed with big corporations they are screwing most Aussies over. The day I witness balance in their approach and not simply lying deception and hoodwinking of aussies to fullfil their self centred ambitions i may change my position.

Slippery raised a legitimate point TV. You failed to respond to the issue he raised. As for your accusation of the coalition being in bed with big corporations, can you back your claim?

As to the ALP being owned and controlled by unions. Do you think that is healthy?

No, she'll be remembered as the who stabbed the most popular (shortly before) PM in Australian history and who subsequently lost the popular vote in one election, then lost government in the next.

Our standard of living will not be that greatly affected by anything she has done in relation/opposition to what any other PM has done.
