the thing is , it's new , and with anything new , there's a lot of questions being asked . .

 

It's really amazing that the owner of this site is so flippant and dismissive of her clientele.

perhaps her donations (or lack thereof from the conservatives here) will reflect her attitude.

Obviously you've never had a stalker. Or you're not very bright. Either way, you don't speak for everybody. Most people don't play games with their FB pages (i.e., fake pics, privacy settings, etc) They exchg news & pics with their families and friends. They sure don't expect to be linked to a huge political forum full o'nuts because cousin Amy posts on PF.

 

Then do nothing different and nothing will change for you.

And I don't see why anyone wouldn't play around with their privacy settings. There's stalkers out there. And you say I'm not very bright.

 

Check the thread you locked last night where we were discussing the same issue. You posted you would advise the owner to adjust something with the FB connection to prevent privacy problems. (Like the member who posted on the PF FB and got a rep here calling her by her real name)

It was an issue with you last night, but tonight you don't understand what anybody's concerned about?

well now Sir Thaddeus , it's a new thing on PF , and people maybe don't know what to expect .

we've all suffered for several months with PF locking-up , loosing posts , all manner of like difficulties , , and with all the recent maintenance & upgrades , maybe people are confused about what is happening with PF , what the future is.

I can't speak for anyone but myself , but at first glance , it sort of gave the impression that PF & FB was getting together , , maybe FB was assimilating PF into a new site called PF's .

call it silly if ya want , it's ok , but that was my 1st impression / concern .

 

It was also posted yesterday that doing nothing was the best option for privacy.

My reason for wanting the owner to make it so that only they could post on the group page was primarily so people wouldn't abuse it. The owner has explained to me that its purpose is to be a fan page and that they will leave the settings the way they are so that people may post comments if they would like. Now that I think about it, that is how a fan page should operate. People control their own FB privacy settings and they decide rather or not to post on the group page. They only person that can affect your privacy here is you.

There is a fan page on facebook for this site. That is all. As for the future of the site, the owner posted an announcement discussing updates and future plans.

It's not me I'm concerned about, dear. It's the other 50,000 members this forum has put at risk without warning of the consequences.

The friggin medium here is the written word. Just seems y'all could get enough of 'em together IN ONE PLACE to fill us in on what's going on.

This is a great forum. Hate to see it evolve into an 'us' vs 'them' atmosphere between mods & members. Where's Shiva? I thought he was bossdog, why isn't he around to play charades with us?

So it is the responsibility of people on this website to make sure people don't do something they may not like on another website? If people already have a facebook account, then they control their privacy. No one is forcing anyone to do anything here. No one is "exposed."

The only bossdog we have is the site owner.

You're making mountains of molehills. If you're not a member of Facebook and hit the connect button it will ask you to sign up. If you are a member of Facebook it will bring you to a log-in page then to the PF Facebook page.

If you want to post to the Facebook page you can. If you don't want to, you won't be forced too.

There are no gremlins under the bed.

well , Sir T , I've been to the fan page on facebook , didn't post though .
I wanted to find out more about it , and I made this thread asking a few questions . I'm not saying I'm against it , just trying to find out about it .

and , I've read the owners announcements , unless there is a new one .

I was very happy and greatly encouraged to see that the owner had made a post today in the Humor forum . . it was a good post too . .

I think that helps ease the worries / concerns to see this activity by the owner .

There's nothing like a word or three from the boss , ya know ?

 

well now Sir T , it seems to me as though maybe it is our responsibility as PF posters to protect our fellow PF posters .

and a few folks have already been whacked from another site FB , so it's not like it hasn't happened , because it has . .

 

I don't have a problem with it. If your choose not to subscribe how can the info from P. F. carry over. Is that the case? If you are anonymous by your username only, get rid of the information on your profile here.
