For those expecting herd immunity: this study kinda buries that possibility.

A new study shows that antibodies for Covid 19 in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients decline significantly for 90% of patients within 2 to 3 months.

    https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-per...udy-antibodies-covid-19-patients-fade-quickly

Now, of course, herd immunity would have also required 70% of the population to become infected. That would have meant that adults would have needed to line up and force their children to line up to drink the kool-aid ... errrr... to get infected. That would never have happened, and it would have only caused the number of dead and survivors with life long health consequences to be in the millions.

But this kinda puts the last nail in the coffin.

So now you know it: wear a mask! Keep social distancing. Stay healthy until there is a vaccination, or you'll be dreaming about not heeding this advice for the rest of your life.

    Interesting.

Do you think the antibodies from a vaccine won't fade, too?

We may never get a vaccine which is anymore effective than the annual flu vaccine. This virus is likely just one additional thing that's going to be with us permanently, putting the elderly and immune-compromised at risk.

For those thinking you can get rid of this Covid-19 virus, that is about just as likely as being able to get rid of the common cold.

If they truly are able to permanently eliminate this Covid-19 virus from the world, my guess is the common cold will also be eliminated along with it.

Something interesting to think about. I'm not really sure how possible this could be.

If they do, we get a booster. If everybody is vaccinated and stays immune for a few months then we achieve herd immunity and the virus has nowhere to go.

God help us with the "you can't force me to vaccinate" zealots.

they do fade, but that is normal, only takes a few to get the action moving and creating more when needed

No, we don't achieve herd immunity. No one is immune if they don't get a booster, or the disease, every two months.

And then I guess we have to quarantine every visitor to our shores for two weeks like they do in NZ for two weeks. Better beef up that border wall to keep the illegals out who won't be quarantined.

Either that or it is boosters for the rest of history, or it mutates into a less severe form.

Perhaps we only need to vaccinate only those who are at risk of developing a serious case of the disease.

Or encourage everyone to smoke which seems to confer protection from the virus:

Yeah! You don't know what "herd immunity" means?

We don't have herd immunity against the flu.

If I were you, I wouldn't advertise not knowing either of those things. Not something to be proud about.

That is encouraging. Tetanus only needs to be renewed every ten years, I think.

Uhm.... isn't that what I just said?

Yeah! Because we're going to keep the vaccine secret! Nobody gets it unless they pay a ransom...

You seem to be repeating this quite frequently. Is there some sort of maternal issues, deficiencies or conflicts you were hoping you could share with us?

...Again, why are you implying that he is your mother? Are you suggesting that wearing a mask is not a good idea or that we shouldn't use this message board to spread that bit of information?

And don't disrespect your mother like that! She knows what she's talking about.

Well, Dad, I actually don't mind wearing a mask when appropriate because I'm an adult who can make my own decisions.

This message board can be used to spread any bits of fact, knowledge and/or opinion. It also allows for feedback from others.

Medical treatments/reducing symptoms seems to be the more pragmatic approach to COVID, if this study is any indicator.

Yes, why don't we utilize this opportunity to rid the world of the flu and the common cold.
You know, at the same time we get rid of the coronavirus.

For those of you who couldn't tell, I am being highly sarcastic.

You're right, what we need is a good tune to celebrate the coming End of the World.

Here is one from my youth that was rather catchy
