They were ordered by Obama to go after conservative groups. Everyone knows it. The IRS didn't out of the blue decide to do this on their own. If they did they would have gone after Liberal groups as well. They got caught when (under the Obama administration) people came forward with the evidence in hearings and it was MORE THAN OBVIOUS what they were doing. Thats why they made their apology.

Those are not reasons. All of that could be done and is already known about tax loopholes. The IRS already audits people if they suspect the tax returns are not correct. You don't violate someone's rights just to get information you already have or can get without violating Trump's rights. What was the legal reason why Trump's tax returns were needed? Fishing expeditions don't count.

You can update tax laws without getting Trump's tax returns. That is NOT necessary. Most in the know, know exactly how tax strategies work. It's not like we have to learn about them from Trump's tax returns. We already know how rich people do it. It's not a crime to follow tax laws, even if you use loopholes. The poor do it all the time. The left just don't like it when the rich people do it.

You know darn well that many cheat on their taxes or even white lies to get all of the deductions they can to pay as little taxes as possible, even down to zero. I had a lot more. I believe I said, "just to name one". People cheat on their taxes all the time, everyone from the rich down to the poor. You just don't like it when the rich do it, even though THEY are the ones paying almost all of the federal income taxes collected. 50% pay zero. You're not paying your fair share when you pay zero.

Playing politics over taxes is dumb, the dems raise taxes full well knowing the loop holes that the rich will get out of the higher taxes. Republicans lower taxes and when they try to kill a loop hole like Trump did with SALT, dems go ballistic. What happens, the rich keep their loopholes regardless.

Why don't you just say it is ok for people to cheat on their taxes, but at a certain income level you are not allowed to even use legal tax strategies to pay less taxes? It is obvious that you can't debate honestly if you refuse to even acknowledge that people cheat on their taxes and you don't have to be rich to do it.

The IRS SETTLED with those groups, paid those groups for the damages they created, and had to make a public apology.
