No, what happened was that law-abiding gun owners collectively shrugged their shoulders and accepted the decision of the parliament, that's why they're called "law-abiding". Mind you, I saw this at close hand and a few people got rid of crappy old guns that were in the prohibited classes and bought nice new ones in the acceptable classes, so it wasn't all bad :D

That is a silly statement. I was raised down on the border of Texas and can tell you that the indigenous peoples never left and were in fact the majority, even more so now.

Pretty well all responsible shooters are in favor of sensible firearm control, some with a healthy mistrust of governmental regulation, doubt the sensibility of governmental regulation. I wonder why that would be. I was a responsible pistol competitor for over 38 years when the slimey new regulations forced me out of the sport. I never had the slightest incident, safety breach, or any issue, but I was forced to give up the sport because time constraints didn`t allow me to attend the compulsory number of registered competitions one year. How stupid is that? For a sport that is safer than golf, more people get struck by lightening while playing golf than there are firearm accidents involving sensible shooters.

The dumb thing is, anyone could now buy a hand gun on the black market. We are living in the age of the flockwit.

Australians are nothing like Texans. For one thing our education system isn't the laughing stock of the entire planet.

We are similar to Texans in that most of us aren`t ignorant and self satisfied.

    No, most of them don't.

And most public school kids in the USA or Australia wouldn't know anything more about the theory of evolution than some kid who goes to a creationist Bible school - if you asked the to explain the theory of evolution, the average public schooler doesn't study or make very high grades - and they'd give you some ill-informed answer which makes just as little sense as some homeschooled kid who says that animals came from Noah's Ark.

You need to get off the Richard Dawkins propaganda - it's rotting your mind and leaving you clueless to reality. And just because you know that Noah's Ark isn't real, and the universe isn't 6,000 doesn't make you smart either. You sound like some Kindergarden "teacher's pet" who's not really all that bright and doesn't realize how "uncool" it really is to constantly assert that others are "stupid" when it's really you who has the problem, not them.

When you cannot argue the facts, you can always rely on school yard insults.

    Truth hurts.

Ask a HS dropout who went to a public school (where evolution was taught) to explain the theory of evolution to you - his answer will sound just as stupid as that of a young earth creationist who went to Bible school.

Most Texas go to public schools and are taught evolution, not young earth creationism - young earth creationist Bible schools and home schooling is a fringe minority - so you are wrong.

Oh come on. The Supreme Court of the US is always coming down on Texas for coming up with new ways to teach creationism in public schools.

Have many friends who also loved the competitiveness of being in their local firearms club, but decided to quit because of all the extra “red-tape” they had to perform just to keep active in their sport.

In the whole history of their club - established for over 25 years; there was not one single incident of anyone accidentally discharging a firearm or anyone being injured due to carelessness.

The people of Australia have turned into a bunch of dumb-asre “headless chicken” who believe anything and everything scum-bag politicians tells them, even if its not in their best interests. LOL LOL

I wouldn’t mind betting that one day really soon, one of the backward dumb-arse Australian politicians will actually try and ban “farting” because they will consider it to either be a health hazard or toxic gas. LOL LOL

Nope, what they will do is require everyone to wear a fartometer and tax us on the carbon content of the farts. Don't laugh, cardboard Kev seriously proposed taxing farmers on the farts of their cattle!

How many people, with even a half baked reason to own a gun, and a reasonable police record, who made the effort, have been refused gun licences that you personally know?

Dump PC robots will believe anything their programmers instruct them to. Too lazy, or dull minded to think for themselves, they just blindly follow their leaders, their minds are putty.

Pointing out that you are not educated about what someone is talking about is not an insult, in fact it gives them a chance to correct their area of ignorance by learning something.

In case you missed it, I was responding to a childish insult.
