The concept of one making sacrifices for the good of the collective is a noble trait, providing one is prepared to make those sacrifices themselves, and doesn`t expect those "other people" to make the sacrifice. In that case, the word "parasite" comes to mind.

 

When you consider Australia's demographics, there is still a large percentage that have generational links to various countries. Our prime minister is a Scot. Anyway, you would think this has a lot to do with our nationalism. I'm not overly fussed with waving my flag around to prove to everyone what a patriotic and good little Aussie I am, but I try to buy Australian when possible and demonstrate my pride outside of some symbol. If Gerry Harvey can't afford to drop his prices, then I'll shop elsewhere. These guys have huge mark ups, and pretend like their not making a profit after dropping some prices by $1000.00. In this instance it is not the cost of manufacturing but the greedy service industry who are destroying us. Gerry would demand his price of the manufacturer and then mark up by 400% or more.

The issue re: trump. That is what has made us a pretty fair country, to hell with Donald trump. On the whole, we don't stand in awe of some dude who drives a merc over a commodore, because it all comes down to character. Many of us stand in awe of gates and Winfrey and the like who give back millions upon millions. These guys love people from all walks, not just those that drive rolls Royce's and own 20 bed mansions.

Gina was providing a message to us the people not to our government. She not once mentioned people's livihoods and her concern for her workers and doing what she could to keep them going. Her message was all about profit and money. There maybe indirect inferences but that's not her motivation.

 

Julia Gillard Is Welsh, unless she lied about that too.

TV don't take this the wrong way as I mean nothing derogatory from it, but reading some of your posts I imagine that you are rather young, I could be wrong, but that is how you come across. I have and still do a lot of contract work for the Harvey Norman group and have met Gerry on numerous occassions. I can tell you that he has probably donated more money than you have ever earnt to numerous charities and community groups. He is a fierce businessman, no doubt. Where you come up with profit margins of 400% is beyond me, I take it you were being creatively descriptive to set forth your point. If you seriously think 400% is a mark up for anyone outside the clothing and food industry you need to do some research.

 

Slippery, if someone is BSing, I'm not going to play along like the consummate gentleman especially when someone thinks their guruness is something to be honoured and respected. Get outta town! I'm not going to spruik off about my experiences either, but I will oppose BS. I think you are a little disheartened and taken back that your articulate spin is not believed by all. Nup. I`m calling Gillard a liar, because she has been caught out lying on many ocasions. These were all Gillard`s lies, not fabricated by other people, as opposed to the title thread, which is a fabricated lie, and a childish one at that.

The title alludes to rhineharts greed. So in my opinion the title is not lying. In any instance if it makes you feel better to believe to the contrary then thats your perogative.
