    https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/23/politics/joe-biden-agenda-trump-impeachment/index.html

It appears on the surface that Mitch will not convince 17 GOP Senators to convict Donald Trump so the question for the Democrats, and especially Joe Biden, is what is to gain but more division?

There is no Unity in calls to attack the GOP from the former President on to Senators and Representatives.

Can’t unify dems with Republicans unless there is accountability. This is a hard situation for anyone to be in.

Impeachment will end up not being a big deal for trump nor his sheep. As I've already posted elsewhere, if the repubs are upset with the impeachment they're really going to be upset when trump is in Federal court facing criminal charges for the Jan 6 coup attempt. Agents of the F.B.I. are making arrests every day and they're sure as hell not going to overlook the instigators behind the coup attempt.

Trump supporters will still blame Biden, leftists, msm, or whatever boogie men Trump has programmed them to believe in.

First week. No, it's been 2 1/2 days. Oooookay. I'll read a little further now that I'm prepared for bs.

Alright. That was mild. My bs meter is tightly wound. Lol.

Yes, all true. So what? If it boils down to disunity or letting criminal behavior go unaccounted for, I'll take the disunity. Mitch McConnell is in no position to make demands.

You're right. It's going to take a long time but we shouldn't give up. Nothing is impossible, look how nicely the Germans and the Japanese came around after the end of WW2.

Not everyone desires unity as defined by one side.

Through the Marshall Plan the US paid Germany and Japan to be our friends. Trump tried to stop buying friends but now with Biden expect payments to our so called allies to get ramped up once again.

That you describe international relations in terms of a transactional friendship shows how deep the messaging has scoured.

It may also reflect how poisonous the system has become.

That's how it's ALWAYS been. Hence 150,000 to Nepal. We're just focused on reality while the two parties hoodwink the entire nation. There's a segment of Americans saying: ENOUGH, you're the US Congress not the world Congress.

This is less about Trump than it is just drawing a line in the sand, if they truly wanted to “get” Trump they would charge him with incitement and threaten jail time - mind you he is facing that anyway from SNDY

Everyone loves a good Show Trial of "enemies of the state" though! Truly inspires the people that we live in a just society and that our taxes are well-spent.

    Doubling down isn't convincing.

Our alliances are strategic, not transactional. Aid is given for a variety of reasons, and bargaining for strategic goals in the interest of the US is exactly what the government should be doing.

That's cute, you really think our government is 'bargaining'. A good bargain is when you hold out until you get what you want, not when you fork cash over and then pray that you get what you want.

Truth? Ol' Joe's GOT what he wants, and "unity" is not (NOT) a real priority.

He's GOT the House of Representatives, and Democrats can break any 'tie' in any issue in the Senate to their favor. They don't have a choke-hold on the Supreme Court as they did during Comrade Obama's regime, but they are assured of being able to put another very-liberal Justice in place when Stephen Breyer retires in a few months.

So, all in all, things look pretty damned ROSY for ol' Joe and the 'Jamaican voodoo queen' he's got in place, holding a Damocles Sword over the Senate, any time Democrats need it.

"Unity"? Why would Democrats bother to 'unify' with people they loathe, hate, and despise...?

[IMG]. "Of COURSE I want unity... as long as everybody included agrees with me...." :democrat:

Yes, our government is currently reengaging with the world. Biden is making America great again.
    Now that's cute.

No, that's reasonable. It's called being a stalwart with your money, something that Washington doesn't know. And how embarrassing is it, that there's at least ONE US Citizen fine with being maybe the dead last consideration of his own government. From the country that rebelled against England in LARGE PART, for the same conditions as right now.

Now, I'm not 'inciting' a rebellion. On the contrary, the system can work as long as people work within the system. But part of the issue is for people like you to wake the F UP, and stop accepting crumbs from your government.

    ???

I'm talking about foreign relations. You might not be inciting rebellion, but you're not being very clear either.

Maybe try to see the international community outside the box of supporting your local bartender?

It's obviously too complicated to discuss in such a light. Go make your transactions. Tip your waitress. Leave the smart stuff to the professionals.

That sounds Nice (see what I did there) but the problem is internal. The South never came around. In fact, most almost believe they won the Civil War. At worst they think it was a tie.

So how do you MAGA if you don't do things the way they ALWAYS have been done? A bit contradictory, don't you think? They may be the US Congress but the US is the breadbasket of the world, the police force of the world, the economic engine of the world. All of those mantel were gained by doing things we have ALWAYS done.
