Israel violated international law on a daily basis before Hamas even existed. Hamas is only a product countering that fascism and war crimes by that Jewish state.

In your first story, the ass who made the comments, was Israel's national Chief of Police. While concerning, I would not imagine that the police chief has the authority to follow through on his threat, to forcibly ship Israeli citizens to a war zone. Presumably the Israeli military would control any such transport and-- though we don't have a national police chief, here-- I would not assume that the chief's rank has any meaning, to the IDF. What it would suggest, however, would be that Israeli police may not treat citizen protestors, in accordance with the police's legal obligations. This, obviously, is also a troubling sign.

Of course, in our country, a police chief's discarding of what would be lawful (in his stated intent, at any rate), probably wouldn't be big news, unless it was the Police Chief of NY, LA, Chicago, Houston, or some other metropolis. But if a national law enforcement official, made such statements (which is even hard to imagine), we would expect his dismissal. So if Netanyahu, or someone in his administration of appropriate stature, does not at least publicly rebuke the Police Chief, that would be more evidence that Istael's national leadership is fine with things taking somewhat of an authoritarian turn.

Two things.
