As Fauci fiddles, demanding prolonged trials in the best bureaucratic tradition, hospitals are already using the drug therapy that President Trump spoke of and permitted. At Lenox Hill Hospital one desperately ill patient was given the therapy and has since been released. Doctors nicknamed him 'Lazarus'.

As we see this drug therapy helping more people, thanks to speedy action by President Trump, they are climbing over one another to attack him. Had it been left to Fauci we would be stuck on trials while people were dying.

Will this therapy help all in need? No, but as Dr. Grace at Lenox Hill said, we need to proceed.

"Because you can take the seriously ill people and treat them off-label with the combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin [and] you can take those people who are not so seriously ill and put them on whatever randomized trial you want, and as many limbs as you want, because there'll be plenty of patients out there that will be sick and not so serious that they're in danger of dying."

President Trump caused this while Fauci was fiddling in the best tradition of entrenched bureaucracies.

Its an interesting development I've been reading up on over the last few days.

Hydroxychloroquine is an anti malarial (parasites that live inside the bodies cells), and modulates the immune system.

I have read that many C virus deaths are associated with the immune system developing antibodies and then attacking immuno receptor sites particularly in the heart and lungs. Its like a combination of septic shock and anaphylactic shock.

Azithromycin is an antibiotic known for excellent tissue penetration.

Trump made a world class call on these malaria drugs, which is unsurprising given that Trump's native problem solving skills are the stuff of legends.

We're very lucky to have Trump and Govs leading our response. So far we're tracking South Korea which has had one of the better outcomes so far:

Clinical trials are NOT repeat NOT just a bureaucratic invention

Yes the drug MAY have an effect but there is a long way to go to measure exactly what that is

It might turn out that it works for people of African descent bipartisan does not work in other populations (genetic variance)

It may turn out that it is only effective very early in the disease but useless or even lethal later on ( and we HAVE seen that).

Trump us an idiot who has difficulty finding his own backside with both hands let alone taking medical advice

Yes we will probably try these drugs but what if they only work in some instances and make others worse?

Its possible that the Azith is to cover for secondary infection, or that its tissue penetration impacts the anti malarial agent.

But the efficacy is increased with the use of this particular antibiotic.

If you know you're dyin' and it doesn't work you lost nothing.

If you know you're dyin' and it does work you could not have gained more.

Seems like a situation where most people would go for it and not worry about the cautious road not taken.

If the left is going to cry doom and gloom, this drug might not work, it may only work on certain people, we're all going to die, then why are they bashing Trump for not being more upbeat?

Ah! But that is the issue

We rarely know for 100% certain someone will die - we know probabilities based on previous cases but few certainties

Often we have to just try it and crunch numbers later

yes that is more than possible that the azithromycin is for a secondary infection but we ALL need to observe antibiotic stewardship and there is, at present, NO evidence that it increases efficiency of any of the antivirals

Unless you have a research a paper suggesting that it does?

I don't see anyone claiming Azithromycin increases the efficacy of anti virals.

    Apparently you didn't catch that.

I remember Democrats hoping hurricane Delorean would cause devastation for America and Americans so they could blame trump and they were bummed out when it missed.
