IMO violence in a society is the biggest factor that holds it back from evolving. People willing to commit acts of violence on strangers in public have no place in a modern society.

According to reality. Being kept in jail pre-trial has ALWAYS been a thing in our country. Not even you honestly object to it. No one talking about "10 years" has said that in the context of sentencing without trial.

Minors can be detained pending trial if they are violent. As they should be.

They can feel that way while being kept away from productive citizens.

No. Like being held in jail pending trial. Probation comes after trial.

Community service comes after trial. This person is a physical threat. Yes, that means they can be kept in jail pending trial.

Yes but for how long? This is where racism can exploit a situation.

Until the trial is over and they are given a sentence to serve.

Kept in jail as a minor for a minor offence?

Depends on their criminal history and the judge/DA's decision on whether they can rely on the person to show up again for their court case.

Yes, there can definitely be some racial disparities there, and I fully support researching that. But it doesn't change the fact that being held in jail pending trial is not comparable to "Nazi Germany."

It can totally be compared to it if there is believed to be systemic racism within the judicial system.

I think comparing the execution of a race for simple existing vs holding someone in jail who punched a lady in the face for no reason isn't remotely comparable to anyone being honest here.

So how long from arrest to trial, roughly?

As the descendent of someone who barely survived a Nazi prison camp, I concur.

Depends on the complexity of the case, the actions of the defendant, the backlog of the courtroom, and the cooperation of witnesses.
