Unless he's incredibly stupid, Trump is trying to cut a trade deal with China that cuts out other countries. There's no way he has enough leverage on China with just our market (4% of China's GDP) to get them to respect intellectual property.

Yes, you will notice that he did not include a time frame. Hence why I said it is not implied to be soon or this year.

Yes, it is objectively downplaying or dismissing the opinions.

What math would you like to emphasize? Anything related to the projections that gives you comfort?

I deny that the story of some officials in Puerto Rico hiding any of those provisions is really ****ing irrelevant.

Why not use the math we have? It's been around almost a month, our infection rate is extremely low. Even the global rate is low. This effects mere thousands in world of billions. You folks lack perspective...

Drops jaw to floor - This may well burn itself out but it is the rate of spread that is concerning and the projected number of people mean that those critical care resources will be swamped. Did you not read the bit about the FiO2/PO2 ratio being <300 in the moderately ill cohort? They did not mention the FiO2 ratio in the severely ill but since a ratio of <300 is indicative of mild ARDS then it suggests that the sicker patients would feasibly develop moderate to severe ARDS

Our main therapy for moderate impact is HFNC and NIV which may have the effect of aerosolising the infection and it may well be that like SARS we will need to invasively ventilate using in circuit HEPA filters.

Our state looking to roll out more invasive ventilators and is negotiating purchase as we type - they did it for H1N1. We also have a 100 million dollar stockpile of PPE and antivirals in Canberra

One of the advantages of a UHC is that a co-ordinated approach is easier

The transmission rate appears very high and that is what is concerning a lot of people

Because the "math we have" also includes the math that this virus is growing at a logarithmic scale.

Choosing to ignore the growth rate or to pretend that the growth rate is going to suddenly stop or reverse magically is utterly idiotic.

I'll go with their numbers, we do not have any thing else except conjecture and guesses.

Do they say, "downplaying or dismissing the opinions of relevant experts is a dumb choice?"

    No.

Every seen a hurricane track projection? Made by experts as well.....looks like a bowl of spaghetti with so many projected tracks..

No one knows....that is the only truth there is.

Life goes on, calm down....we will be OK.

" If this thing infects 10 million Americans (the flu infects about 30 million every year), 600,000 will be in intensive care, at least for a little while. That's a little less than all the staffed hospital beds in America."

The statement was made to highlight the overwhelming of the number of hospital beds we have, which would only come into play if those 10 million were infected as the same time.

    Strike Two.....

It's not that high or the spread in a month would be much greater. Nor is the morality rate high enough for all panic some people insist on creating...
