The hypocritical National Rifle Association will not permit its members to pack guns at its convention on May 4 in Dallas. Why? We all know the reason. Guns are dangerous. Guns kill people. If all of the attendees at the convention were permitted to pack heat, at the slightest disturbance this country would experience the biggest shoot-'em-up since the Civil War.

Knives? Yes, you can take knives to the convention, but you have to check them and have them locked up on the way in and pick them up again as you leave. Guns? Don't even think of packing a gun anywhere near the NRA bosses. The NRA has no problem with the rest of us carrying guns and shooting each other on the streets and freeways, but for goodness sake don't think of bringing one of those death machines anywhere near the capos of the NRA mafia.

I'm betting it has something to do with insurance costs associated with having hordes of random armed people in the building.

Yes, even the NRA knows that random armed people are dangerous.

My suggestion is that everyone entering the NRA convention be patted down at the door to see if they're carrying guns. Those who do not have guns should be required to rent one to defend themselves inside.

. . . . To defend themselves against potentially violent peacemongers or protesting students???

Against each other. No protesting student with a brain would want to be among a bunch of violent Second-Amendment people with guns. But it won't happen. The NRA organizers know better than to let their members carry guns when the organizers are around.

Its only during the VP's visit and its a directive from the Secret Service in order for him to attend.

    Nice flamebait however.

Show's how stupid these Parkland kids are.

Are you trying to tell me that the people without guns are the violent ones? What do you call all of those people who possess guns and run around killing people? Are they peaceniks? That all sounds like NRA-speak.

Do you seriously believe that if Pence weren't scheduled to attend the convention, the NRA leaders would let the entire audience pack heat? Of course, you don't.

Um....they are.....just not prior to or during his visit. Afterwards you can pack as much heat as you want.

Kinda even says that in the link.

    You should try reading it.

Those attending the NRA Leadership Conference in Dallas are on notice that no firearms or “weapons of any kind,” or ammunition, will be allowed in the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center “prior to and during” Pence’s appearance on May 4.

In case nobody bothered to actually read the story....

No you can't have firearms in the audience when the Vice President of the United States is there for obvious reasons which are only conveniently ignored by those attempting to be purposefully obtuse in an effort to expose some sort of hypocrisy that doesn't exist...

In layman's terms. You can't have guns around the heads of state....regardless of what type of convention it is. Every logical person knows that, and so does the publisher of this article which was only published as a click bait attempt to laugh at the NRA in hopes that people would merely look at the headline and not actually read the damn thing.

The real reason is they're afraid a deranged Liberal will go in there and target the Vice President.
Pence is the only reason they haven't tried to take out Trump (probably an intentional strategy choice).

does the NRA get to make the convention centers rules or do you think places like convention centers and concert venues make the rules. Secondly there is the vice president issue that every PF member should go oh...thread fail.

It sounds like the RW is afraid of losing the NRA to a Circular Firing Squad.

I have two questions about the post quoted above.

    1) Does anyone honestly believe that the NRA would allow all of the attendees to exercise their Second Amendment rights and all pack guns in the convention center if Pence were not going to appear?
    2) If it's true as the poster wrote that "You can't have guns around the heads of state," does that mean that Pence is already our head of state? Did I sleep through the impeachment?

It's also somewhat of a different situation when there's a large crowd gathering together, in a place that can be turned into a controlled access area, and where there are already armed security guards available to deal with any problems.

Guns on the floor at the NRA Convention is a HORRIBLE Idea.

At least 50% of the attendees (at said convention) have a very high likelihood of being a Mentally-Unstable Person (who shouldn’t have a gun in the first place).

Adding guns to that toxic mix is a recipe for a Bloodbath.

Oh well, NRA gonna NRA. :salute:

The last couple times this 'issue' came up, it turned out that the convention center banned guns on the premices, not the NRA. Assuming the convention center is private property (i really don't know) theres not much anyone can do about it.
