Why would I do that? It's the gun toters who want guns everywhere...I don't want guns there...so WTF are you talking about.???

Gun toters should challenge the SS...go ahead, demand they let you in with a nice safe gun...why not?

Why is it again that people need to carry at an NRA convention? I thought people carried to protect themselves against criminals?

I can't help but laugh every time I see that. The SS is not going to allow guns. Period. End of story. Ain't going to happen. I can't believe that any one seriously believes it could happen.

First of all, welcome to the forum.
Secondly, the only reason "Tomander7020" started this thread is to take cheap shots at the NRA.
There is nothing "hypocritical" about complying with the Secret Service's S.O.P.

Nope! If you had understood my post, you would have seen that I did not suggest that. You regularly read things into posts that are not there.

But, you keep insisting the NRA ask the SS. If you are looking for a different answer, ask a different question.

Yes, the Secret Service knows full well that guns are dangerous. Guns kill people.

The guns aren't dangerous at all. I have owned guns for nearly seventy years. None of those guns ever hurt anyone. Unless you want to count my hand getting pinched my an M-1 Garand, but that was my fault, not the Garand's.

Now, a gun in the wrong hands is a completely different matter. The SS are concerned about the gun only because of who might be carrying it. There is a very small chance that a person on a suicide mission could shoot the VP, if by some mistake he was allowed into the meeting. He could do the same thing with a knife, a ball bat or an explosive vest, all of which are not allowed into the conference. But, of course, you already know this even though it sounds like you don't. .

Read slowly : I NEVER said the SS would allow guns.

I said IF guns are so safe why doesn't the NRA ask the SS to allow them.

That is in clear English. If you can't comprehend that's not my fault.

Do you mean other than the fact that lawful gun owners, as a prerequisite, have to be among the most law abiding people in the country?

Do you mean other than the fact that people who obtain CCW licenses and carry on a daily basis have the lowest amount of violent AND non-violent crime of any group?

It's not up to the secret service to ignore federal law.

Well I certainly could have missed something, let's take another look at it.

    1. The NRA has nothing to do with allowing members to carry firearms in a private venue with the Secret Service in attendance, as per the law I quoted you earlier, signed in by Barack Obama.

    2. Guns are dangerous. Most tools are, especially in the hands of morons and those with ill intent.

    3. There are at least 16 million people with CCW's out there in the states that require them, and millions more in states where the Constitution is your permit to carry.

    4. We have data from multiple states over a 30+ year time frame that clearly shows people who are licensed to carry a firearm commit less crime, both violent and non-violent, than the general population. The comparison isn't even close.

I comprehend completely. The SS will not approve the guns, no matter how many times they ask or how they ask. The problem is not the guns, it is the person who might be carrying them. The NRA fully understands that the SS will not approve them. It makes no difference whether the SS and the NRA believes guns are safe. It is a zero tolerance policy.

They screen who might come to the meeting. They further screen to make sure those who do attend are not carrying weapons. In addition the SS is a zero tolerance group. If you approach the VP, they will put themselves between you and the VP until they are sure you can do no harm. If you threaten the VP in any way, they will stop you. It is called layered security

You are the one who is refusing to comprehend.

Ya know gun proponents who can't understand clear English don't speak well for the rest of gun proponents. Maybe if the words are larger it would help???

    I already answered that question.

The NRA can't ask the Secret Service to ignore federal law.

Maybe if you spent two seconds thinking you could come up with these easy to connect dots.

No, you are the one who is shooting off all over on several different topics....I KNOW what the SS does and allows....why do you keep repeating the *&^%* obvious?

And I repeatedly told you why they do not ask the SS to allow them in very simple English. Question asked and question answered. That is the answer and there is no other answer.

The. NRA. Can't. Ask. The. Secret. Service. To. Ignore. Federal. Law.

The kids, like some of the posters, can use this as a learning moment on how things actually work.
