    Frittata ... whatever.

The point is, that region isn't going to get better. We've tried for half a century to get the folks there to behave like adults. To try and build something with their lives or at least to leave their neighbors in peace. Nothing has worked. Every-time we break up one fight and go home, another one breaks out. Almost always over... "that pile of sand was my toy first."

And when we ignore their antics, they come to our house and drive planes into buildings. It needs to end.

No, we don't need to literally nuke the region (tempting as it sounds). But maybe we do have to figuratively nuke the place. Unless we want to sit there for another century as a permanent baby sitter, we have to change that region so it no longer resembles anything that's there now.

Lines on a map and international agreements don't seem to matter to these folks so we need something more permanent. This idea of flooding the region, or at least opening a water channel right through Iraq and Syria, of putting much of the contested land under water sounds promising. If no one wants the other guy to have the toy, get rid of the toy.

*shrug* Can't think of a better idea, might be worth a try.

Or, the 300 million souls there could grow the frick up and find a way to either get along or get apart.

    (hey it worked for Solomon...)

You may want to read up on the Great Depression before you start comparing it to a nice meal.

Didn't vote. I didn't see an option that I agree with and there was not "other" as an option. I think we need to clean up the USA before trying to fix the rest of the world. Our #1 enemy has already invaded Washington D.C. When we clean up the poop in our own back yard then perhaps we can try to force our beliefs and way of life on the rest of the globe.

Did you see any head shops in Turkey? When I was there they were the most amazing glass artists I've ever seen. The sketchy neighborhoods seem to be expanding though :(

You are aware that oil is no longer needed? We have all of the tech to make water a far better energy source than oil.

Isolationists give me the runs. I do not advocate waiting until ISIS soldiers are overrunning our beaches before doing something about them. OTOH I also do not support unilateralism.

Why are none for sale around here? Do they also make watered powered trains, 18 wheelers, cargo ships and aircraft?

There are variables of the engine that can power a tank if that was your question. So a little tweaking and I'm sure anything would be possible with it.

I should have known. Have you ever reflected on the flaws of that conspiracy theory?

Incorrect but I'd like to see your evidence about this conspiracy theory.

The Franklin County coroner ruled that Meyer, who had high blood pressure, died of a brain aneurysm. Absent any proof of foul play, the police went with the coroner's report.

Well, that isn't (and wasn't then either) my thing so I'm not sure I would have noticed them.

However, I was there in the late 80s, when Turkey was still recovering from a decade of near civil war, triple digit inflation and a coup in 1980 So the economy wasn't exactly booming and the place (Istanbul particularly) still looked pretty run down in spots.

    Shalom.

If we completely destroy the Islamic State then we will leave our key ally Israel exposed to the Shia in Syria and Iran.

So, we should kill Jihad John and his group, but the CIA and our armed forces should work with the moderates to attack Assad and Iran.

Assad and Iran are the real problem.

God bless Israel and the USA in the forthcoming defeat of Iran. Iran is a clear and present danger to humanity and must be sent back to the stone age.

Once Iran and Syria are finished off, only then should we exterminate the remaining membership of the Islamic State. Until we get to the termination of the Iranian threat, we should leave IS alone.

I was watching a nbc news report from the death and they said something about cyanide? Strange. I'm going to look further into this.

We need to get the hell out of that part of the world. It is one huge boiling pot of trouble. We ally with one group to defeat the other group then the group we were with becomes the enemy and on and on. They are and always have been a bunch of uncivilized horde of barbarians. Let them fight each other. It keeps them in one place. So far as Jihadi John he needs to die but he is just a blood thirsty killer for ISIS. Hopefully the SAS or Delta Force captures him and leaves him to rot on a sand dune.

Yes, we need to get the military out of the Mid-East, but imho the Arab Spring movement deserves the moral support of all freedom-lovers in their efforts to overthrow the elite, filthy-rich royalty and military dictators who have armies, air forces, and all other kinds of other fancy weaponry. If the kings and dictators can't hold off the homeboy rebels with all the weaponry they have, doesn't that tell you something?
