Apples and oranges. You are comparing a yearly contraction rate for the US, to the actual contraction of several other countries over a certain time period. Can we compare the US to other countries using the same metric?

I do wonder how many non-celebrities of those who attended Trump's useless rally contracted and died from Covid-19.

To say your argument is childish would be an insult to children. Trump and his followers refused to accept the crisis and here we are. CNN has nothing to do with the virus. It is pathetic how unaccountable Trump supporters are.

There are riots largely because there's a racist president at WH.

Youre right about Spain, UK, France and Germany.

You have to multiply by four.

But either way, exception of UK, they're all doing better than the U.S.

    It's never the Democrats' fault.

Then don't whine about it.... Prepare for a virus that no one new about, lol. What about building ventilators so no American went without one or create a freaking vaccine in 8 months to roll out this fall to end this Wuhan virus. Give me a break it's amazing how well got American business involved to solve a lot of major issues that we had and the reason why we won't come close to the original predictions of 3 million deaths in America.

There are riots because we have a society full of white snow flake Karen's that are offended by their their own odor.

Oh, now if you are black and Trump supporter, you probably should be concerned for your well being.

You have presented me with a -32.9% annual contraction rate for Q2. Provide me with a source that shows your numbers for other countries are also an annual contraction rate for Q2. Else, you are comparing apples and oranges.

What do you expect when you shut a countries entire economy down? And didn't Democrats demand this? Railed on Trump for not shutting things down sooner? And yell at him for wanting to open it back up?

See you're playing a two faced game by blaming trump for this and for not doing the thing that caused the contraction. It's literally damned if you do and damned if you don't.

    The Nazis weren't anti-Semitic.

There were Jews who collaborated with them in the concentration camps.

Still, 87% of blacks are pro-Biden... That's the number you have to remember.

I don't even know the time period of these numbers for these other countries. I don't even know if they are for a quarter or over a longer or shorter time period. A better method would be to look at the actual contraction in these countries since February. We should also look at more than just five other countries.

First of all, there was never a national lockdown policy.

If there had been, 150,000 Americans wouldn't have died in vain since March.

Second, all the other countries I mentioned in my first post have been in full lockdown for at least 45 days.

And with the exception of the UK, they all have a better economic performance than the US.

That's kind of what happens when you close down the economy. If you advocated for a shut down, then don't act like this is someone else's fault.

I have lost a good friend. My nephew may still die. A third friend I spent Monday afternoon with after I located him in Orange, CA, brought him clothes, a back pack, money, and more. Then I found him a place to stay and got him into a program. All three of them battle drugs / alcohol and have been doing very well for years and years. They all lost their jobs and hope. There are millions more just like them. But, hey! Democrats have an election to win...so shut it all down for a virus that has a 99.9% survivability rate.

well I guess I have it pretty good in Florida then, except for large venues like arena's, we're open for business. as far as I know even disney is still open as well, at least I haven't heard differently. I don't know about daycares, but I don't have small kids. during our "lockdown" my entire strip center of 7 businesses were technically closed, but three or 4 of us still came to work, we just locked the doors to avoid walkins from stopping in. Now its not much of an issue because customers don't want to come by because our #'s are up.

we did delay the school opening and of course locally they are fighting over the mask issue saying the school district doesn't have the authority, (which is silly, just wear one for christ sake i'm tired of the anti mask people) I expect they will sort that crap out soon enough, I have very little sympathy for the teachers complaining because honestly those same teachers had zero issue with the rest of us going to work while they were shut down. The only thing i'm curious about is if a measurable % of parents (5%?) decide to home school that it will impact funding in a big way, which will make it interesting because the districts are excellent at spending money, not so good at making cutbacks which could be substantial.

Perhaps in other areas (miami?) they pulled back on the openings but I avoided miami before covid, and most certainly after.

Oh so thousands of companies never shut down? They were never ordered to shut down? I'm not talking borders here. I'm talking businesses...which is, ya know what makes the economy. I work for an answering service which was considered essential because we answered for police and hospitals and other types of business. Most of our clients were shut down, even a few clinics were shut down.

    That's BS.

Canada, France and Germany were in a national lockdown for at least 45 days.

Their results are much better than those of the US.

But this is something you don't want to hear.

There cannot be a national lock down policy without Leftists screaming. Remember when Trump said, I got this, and the Democratic Governors howled publicly and said they are the decision makers by state?

They are right. Were you unaware of the lefts efforts to silence opposing views on college campuses? The left has worked hard to erode the first and second amendments. It doesn't take a Trump defender to see that!

ya, I saw that on the news. our gyms are open locally so we don't have to deal with that crap.

Sorry for sounding a little lost on the subject, but since we're like 99% open in Florida, I just assumed (wrongly) that for the most part the other states were doing the same. My bad.
