Right, but it doesn't allow for a Rep List.

LOL, sure you're not an administrator on this forum?

According to vBulletin's feature list... version 4 includes the rep system.

    vBulletin features

    Member Features

    It's a wait&see situation. ;)

That's good to know, and should be assuring that the rep list will come back.

"User Rep Management" does not include a "Rep List" in ver 4.1, which is what I said in my post above.

I am a vBulletin admin., just not here.

Why would you need to manage something that doesn't exist?

We get told over and over that this is the owner's board, not the members. We live in a benevolent dictatorship owned by a monarch, to whom we owe allegiance if we want to stick around. Obey her laws and you can stay. the Mods only implement the laws of the Crown. And the dictatorship is ever so benevolent. We may get forty lashes from time to time, but there is no capital punishment. Just banishment across the sea to Debate Politics and other alien lands.

That's fair enough. I'm British. I get it.

Until you want to tax us. As I say, I'll pay my tax, but when I'm consulted. Now I'm starting to be one of those uppity colonials remembering the struggles of English yeomanry against the Norman yoke. Consultation starts with transparency. It seems that the peasantry has already paid a lot of money to the Sheriff of Nottingham but the promised goodies haven't come in return. The peasantry doesn't want to pay any more taxes without knowing what they will be used for. The peasantry is in revolt.

But you know at heart we are all liberals, whatever some of us say. We are all happy to vote for high taxes if we know we get high benefits. It's this idea that the taxes are wasted that really makes us anti-tax. If we knew that high taxes would give us a better society we would all be voting for left wing Democrats at the drop of a hat. We just think it's all going on pork. So we are restless.

Tell us what the problems are, identify the solutions, cost the bill. It's amazing what happens when you treat people like grown ups... or citizens.

    Tom Paine (he was British).

I told you all months ago that the admin and the mods blew all your donations in Jamaica. It's a classic online forum scam.

I think they must be there right now because I just tried to send them ten bucks but got some page that said "Cyber Plots" or something and wouldn't let me. Looks like the tax collectors are out to lunch. And I so wanted one of those little goldie things you all have.

I don't know how much it costs, nor how much time it would take. Keep in mind the Admin needs to decide on a suitable time to make the change, it will happen when it happens and as soon as we know about it, we'll let you know.

Seriously, though, people here are just giving their money away to some anonymous entity on a online forum, some of them hundreds of dollars apparently.

I mean, in the real world, if we get a letter in the mail with no return address asking you to send donations to a PO Box to help find a cure for cancer, the red flags go up and sirens sound in our heads. The letter goes straight into the trash. It's so obviously a scam, nobody even tries to pull it off.

You guys could be giving your money away to some crackhead who's just blowing it all on drugs, while promising upgrades that never come. That's why I say keep your money and deal with the problems on the site. The upgrade's just not worth it, unless you're totally addicted to this site, in which case, well, you got bigger problems than lost money.

Usually, when a person is really serious about getting donations, they make a point to introduce themselves fully, explaining who they are, what they do, and why we should trust them with our money.

Well it seems the upgrade is only a couple hundred bucks that they have been collecting for well over a year now and all we've gotten is things taken away and no upgrade....RED FLAGS??? YES INDEED.

Its a fair question, but it really depends on how much time can be devoted to it.
From what I gather, older stuff has to be cleared out, other stuff has to be rearranged, several modifications are taking place, and all of it is being attempted without interrupting forum flow, mostly during EST nights, when we don't have as much traffic as during the day.
And we want the forum owner to have a bit of personal life, not to mention some sleep, don't we?
A scenario comes to mind, and it might be a bit far fetched, but here it comes.
Snow removal....parking lot at a 24 hr Walmart, parking lot is full, one person removing the snow while working a full time job.
    Snow continues to fall.

A version upgrade even with the largest of databases should take no longer than 5 hours.

From what I understand the whole forum would have to be down and once started, I don't think it should be stopped.

    Anyone know for sure???
