All I know is that the forum owner tries to get it all done with as little interruptions as possible.
So far we have improved speed, most of the time at least,both for staff and members alike, and we are happily posting.
The rest will hopefully come about soon. When? No one knows.

 

Just because you think it will take that long, doesn't mean it will. If it takes 10 hours or 20 hours, that is how long it will take. There is no absolute time limit on these things.

 

We didn't need to upgrade a year ago. Its only recently that the foru has become so big, we have had problems with it. The donations are for the server payment, nothing else.

For those who asked about 'tapatalk', the Admin says we have always had it.

It's not because I think it would take that long, I know it would take that long because I have upgraded 2 vBulletin forums to ver 4.1 in the last year. One being much larger than this one.

The top posters and rep lists went awol on Feb 7. The morning down-times have stopped, giving the impression the database was trimmed - or whatever was being done. All updates stopped a couple of weeks ago. The problems are better, but not further progress toward a VB4 update has been made. Just another plea for money. No I don't donate, and I'd like to, but not until this has been resolved.

I've been patient and polite. We all have.
Honestly, I think we're being bull (*)(*)(*)(*)ted at this point.

Doesn't make you an expert, so please stop presuming you know more than the Admin of this site. It will take as long as it takes.

And as to the previous post, donations are also being sourced to pay for the upgrade. I believe I have mentioned this, oh, maybe a dozen times already?

 

Have you ever wondered if perhaps those last upgrades took hours and hours of the Admins time? Time she could have spent sleeping, rather than working through the early hours to fix things?
Perhaps she needs a break, and time to think about what she will do to change this site and how she's gonna do it?

You have been here less than a month. One must wonder if you have been here before, considering you seem to know a heck of a lot about this forum and its alleged problems...

Why? Why should the Admin have to constantly try and fix things to please you and everyone else? This is not your forum. If you don't like waiting for the upgrade, there are thousands of other forums out there that you may like. It is rude, IMO, to demand things. No one here has any idea how much effort it takes to run a forum, and as for selling it, to who? What if the forum WAS sold and the new owner ruined it and refused to return the rep list?

 

So if we ask questions and want answers because we want to know what is going on or before donating, we are not wanted here???

You can ask questions, which you have, but you have been given answers that you don't like, so the same questions get asked repeatedly. What more can we do?

The members have helped make this forum as it is, but it doesn't belong to us. We have no say in any changes made, that is entirely up to the Admin.

 

Donation goal's around $500 this month, about double what it's been. If it keeps going up, we might have to install some phone-sex lines to generate a little extra cash.

 

Probably to help pay for the upgrade and the server payment. You don't have to donate, so don't feel like you have to.

 

I would hope we would have some say. Like I said, if not for the participants this place would not exist. Personally if that is the attitude which the forum owner has according to you...this place is doomed.

 

The forum owner has answered your questions. There is no need to expect a different answer to the same questions because you don't like the first answer.

We do not know what VB4 will allow for. We will find that out. I don't even know if the layout of the site will change, or if it will stay the same but give us options to change it. I do hope we have the ability to change our user titles though. That was promised years ago and I did mention it, so perhaps we will be lucky enough to get that.

 

Which has nothing to do with what I and you just said. Basically you are telling me it is none of our business what the admin decides to do and the people who make this site what it is have no say. Is that what the admin wants to project?

 

It is your business when the Admin chooses to make it your business.

If little gold bars mean anything, I'm more 'invested' in this site than you are, Mak. I've donated because I like to pay my own way and I spend a lot of time here. And yes, people who make fun of us donators have a valid point. So far, it looks like we're being taken for a ride.

I'm hanging around to see how things turn out. In the meantime, the forum is dullsville without our fav features. Things are so 'basic' here, we might as well be posting with a chisel on a rock.

I'd suggest a fundraising campaign. Paint a rosy picture of the future PF and we'll all chip in... even if we have to do a little arm-twisting. What do ya think... anybody back there know anything about marketing???
