One thing they do not play with is a snook that's out of slot limit or closed season, they will take your boat/vehicle and haul you to jail. As tasty as they are, they get gently released immidiately.

You about gotta check laws every time before you head out.

Maybe your brother pissed off somebody who used the FWC to "SWAT" him? That sounds out of the ordinary, for sure.

A Funny thought just occurred to me.
It's common knowledge that a Game warden can and will confiscate
a rifle { especially when deer hunting out of season } but how about
confiscating a person's favorite Fishing rod.

The commercial fleets are the real problem - not people fishing for their supper.
IOW, the law really can be an ass.

I take my time and fillet, the skeleton looks like tracing paper when I'm done. I skin most fish, even scaled ones. Tilapia are an invasive in damn near every body of water here, but good eating. They are mainly cast netted but will bite a hook. About the average size for eating.

I cast net 3-5 inch ones for saltwater bait. The big ones get ate.

Oh they will, they will take more than that for severe violations like straight up poaching for $.

Carp is the traditional Christmas dinner in many central European countries. Like pike and eels, the trick is too soak them live in your bathtub for a couple of days to get rid of the muddy taste.

~ Cooking is alien to many - but not likely my generation. Just look at the fast food industry.
I always cook at home. ( I just soaked/cooked some pink beans ) I also like doing my own yard work.

I have a hard time believing my brother could anger someone like that. It's not a biased opinion; he's a genuinely nice guy. He's the guy that volunteers to help build sets at the high school; cleanup the park; coach the kids & represent the neighborhood at community meetings. His house is "the" house, or was until the kids went to college.

    So bizarre.

In that case, hard to say. Sounds like a misuse of resources, maybe a "fishing" expedition to see if they could sieze property on some flimsy pretext. You ever visit him in the Keys?

As a lifelong native, I'm ashamed to say I have never been.

These "sand bream" are common in all Fl salt and brackish waters. Typically not getting much bigger. Non regulated species, can be cast netted.
I have a 6ft "bait net" with 3/8th mesh. Looking to buy an 8 or 10 ft "mullet net" with 1 inch mesh. They sink much faster and can be used in deeper waters. A bait net in anything over a few ft, the fish see it coming and have time to dive.

A good net starts at 150$ Better know the bottom, you get hung up you better go swimming, a net like that hurts to lose.

Yes. A few times a year. We're about 90 minutes away. He lives across from a canal on the Bay side. Going on on the boat is fun. I get to go snorkeling, crabbing, lobstering, sand bar fun and tubing. We also go to restaurants via boat. Love it there. Sunsets on the water are extraordinary, as are July 4 fireworks.

I wasn't familiar with the term " Poaching " as to fish caught.
That seems a bit over the top.
Like would The Little Rascals ever be accused of " Poaching "
by a Game Warden when a Truant Officer catches said Little Rascals
    playing Hooky an Gone Fishin'.
    Food for thought.

It's not always the 'story' for me, it's how it's rendered.

Quite often I'll have music running in the background, and depending on the effect I want, I'll chose the voice and sound to induce or compliment that mood.

Now this one is for charging up the mood to get a project done, and if you listen to the words, it's about a faithless wife and her murder.

I learned over last summer when there was a death in my family,
at my ex-sister in laws home.Nice 5 acre spread and she saved her
many years of working and finally got what what her Bass Fisherman hubby
dreamed of.A really Nice big Metal Garage for her husbands Nice Bass Boat.
I had just seen the place for the first time the day of Funeral.
This was like on a Saturday after the Funeral. Her hubby had just gotten
back from a morning trip Bass event with his fishing buddy. They were in the big
boat garage quaffing beers.Like one after the other.I don't drink before dinnertime.
this was the early afternoon. The 2 bass buddies were complaining about fishing
and how one got away.Seems the Bass buddy had just got a new electric
fishing net and hadn't really used much.He used it to bring in a whopper
{ biggest bass that morning } and messed-up.I forgot how.Couldn't get it to
extend. And it cost money { they bet on who lands the biggest catch of the day }.
The new electric net wouldn't extend { fast enough or long enough } I can't
    remember.

I've never seen a group of people that can be so pragmatic AND romantic at the same time as the Irish.

I'm Irish enough to be entitled to an Irish passport (Irish grandmother) which is my route back to EU citizenship and all the benefits that entails.
Once the Irish passport office is back in full swing post Covid I shall be making an application.
