So, when should all new cars sold be EVs?

How so? They are paid competitive wages. Otherwise they would not be working there.

I don't expect to see all electric vehicles only in my lifetime.

Never. I want hydrogen combustion, biodiesel, compressed air, and others to remain as options for new cars as well.

I'll buy an EV when battery technology advances to the point that I can get a couple hundred thousand miles worth of discharge/recharge between having to replace the cells. By then, there should also be an affordable 4x4 1/2ton equivalent that I can buy used ...because I'll never ever buy a new car, EV or not, unless I happen to stumble into such a vast quantity of expendible income that I can justify an 'investment' that immediately loses 30% and never regains.

Illegals says it all They should not have been here to start with.

In chicken processing plants, they are mostly Mexican, legal and illegal. Not so much in the other meat processing plants.

When they are a superior product to the competition.

    That's an easy one.

Just a kind of footnote. I worked for Eagle Picher back in the early 1980s. They were making electric vehicles at that time. They were removing the engines and transmissions from VW Rabbits and installing batteries and electric motors. They were intended for locations where no emissions are permitted such as inside huge factories. They also built an electric powered speed boat.

~ Liquefied hydrogen seems to be safer than gasoline .

Not sure where you would get that idea. It is a high pressure gas with very small molecules which can pass through virtually any kind of opening. The only advantage is that it will not accumulate in low pockets.

The basic problem is you cannot liquify hydrogen at room temperatures. It has to be cooled down considerably.

Batteries have one basic problem regardless of what technology. You are packing a lot of energy into a system which has electricity passing through it. A short due to building errors or operator error can result in a massive explosion or fire. The chemistry of a number of battery technologies are conducive to causing metallic crystals to form. That is one of the reasons why we tend to see a lot of lithium battery fires.

Internal combustion engines overcome that by having the gasoline only pass into the engine when it is generating mechanical motion.

Over time much of these problems will be mitigated. But we are far from being there at this time.

~ The day may come when humans create and use vehicles for one purpose - practical transportation. They likely will be small to mid-size with very efficient low power motors that produce torque but not speed. 0-60 in 5 seconds no more. Loud exhaust systems will be gone. The car will no longer be a "statement" or status symbol. We all will be relegated to equals in our boring recycled vehicle "capsules".

    How boring.

I own a twenty five year old Miata. Pristine condition. Good gas mileage and a ball to drive. Now that is living.

I was at that Worlds Fair maybe that's where I heard it. A Frenchman recently flew his car across the English channel and back to France.

I've read magazines and websites about flying cars over the years, but none of them were sold to the public.

Just consider the problem. We require a fair amount of training to get a pilots license. Do you think they are suddenly just going to make it easy to jump into your flying car and fly across a busy city with no traffic control. The more likely possibility that if and when this ever happens, people will just be passengers and computers will do all the driving. You tell it where you want to go and it gets you there. This will be a long way down the road, if ever.

Paris is supposedly working on flying UBER cars instead of ground taxis. I believe Hyundai has developed a flying car.
