On May 23, 2022 -- 12 days after receiving the subpoena -- Little and Corcoran met with the former president at Mar-a-Lago. It was Corcoran's first time meeting Trump in person, and Little allegedly wanted to help ease Corcoran into his new role.

As Little recounted to investigators, she told Trump that if -- after a diligent search of Mar-a-Lago -- they found more classified documents and returned all of them, he wouldn't face legal jeopardy, as it would be complying with the subpoena, the sources said.

But, she told Trump, if there are any more classified documents, failing to return all of them moving forward will be "a problem," especially because the subpoena requires a signed certification swearing full compliance, the sources said.

"Once this is signed -- if anything else is located -- it's going to be a crime," sources quoted Little as recalling she told Trump.

But I know how far dems will go to "get" Trump as they made that clear he was going to be jailed before he was even president.

I was hoping you were going to respond to post 606. This news is not getting the coverage it should.

Trump's lawyer has testified she told him he would be committing a crime if he retained documents at MAL after signing the form (or having it signed on his behalf) that he had done a diligent search and returned everything.

I know there are a lot of smocking guns in our lives, but I see that one as being a death blow to any defense on the obstruction charge

 

Hot damn! That's a great point. Apologies, man. I got over 100 notifications yesterday and must have missed it, but it this case just gets more iron clad by the day. No wonder Trump and his followers are wetting their pants. If any other judge were in the seat, the trial would begin before the election.

 

I know this is impossible to redo, but I wonder if Smith would have been better served passing on all the retention of classified documents charges and just gone with simple obstruction?? So easily proved and I'm not sure if you'd have all of the classification issues we have now...

He's dead in the water but "Judge" Cannon is seriously in the trump bag. She was put there on the 16th of Jan 2021 for a reason. He already was a lame duck.
My 2 cents, Smith is doing it by the book but he is also up against the Judge here. No reason that the classification are a lynchpin, the defense and the judge are making it so IMO.

The report was basically a prosecution memo which is written as an internal document to bring up case weaknesses or other details so others can comment on a potential prosecution. It wasn't ever intended to be a public document. Garland made it public not Hur. Hur did his job correctly, He pointed out the criminality and weaknesses in the government case. He decided not to prosecute because of those weaknesses. The democrats should be angry at Garland who made the document public, not at Hur for his detailed information, all of which is true. But there has to be fall guy for some reason in politics. The democrats have the wrong man.

 

Oh believe me, the White House is mad at Garland. He's supposed to be the President's wingman!

They DID NOT find the classified document in a closet that high paid DC lawyers were cleaning out (lie number one) in NOVEMBER which is the lie number two that they (Biden, NARA, FBI) told us..... they were being gone through in MAY, 6 months earlier by Dana Remus... VICE PRESIDENT Biden not only knew he had his... he obstructed and hid his from the NARA and DOJ by not notifying them he had them at the Penn Biden center in March 2021... 1 1/2 years before the Nov 2022 ..... nor the classified in the basement for 7 years.. it looks like possibly also on March 18, 2021, senior White House aide Annie Tomasini "[took] inventory of President Biden's documents and materials" stored at the center
