There are risks in anything. And the risks in having it done to a baby are FAR less than when they are older. Which is why its done when they're a baby, not so that they won't know what they lost later in life (if anything) as you claim.

yes, there is no reason to preform elective genital mutilation on a child against their will.... none

children should be able to sue their parents for forcing this on them

You linked to a blog article (by its own admittance) and it doesn't even link to the study that it claims it got its information from. I think I'll trust the well known and recognized Mayo Clinic over an unknown, unsourced blog article.

It might be elective, but it still has medical benefits. And since the risks of getting it done later in life is worse than that of when they're still a baby, it is a valid option to have the parent choose.

What makes your source better than mine? At least mine is well recognized and has a reputation of respect, honesty, and accuracy. What's your link to a place in India that can't even source its claims got going for it?

I read nowhere in your link that countered what I posted

I think you want to believe what you say as true

your source even says, except in rare conditions, it's not a necessary procedure

Removing a foreskin is not mutilation any more than a nose job properly done is facial mutilation. Your absurd claims to the contrary. You don't need really long fingernails and you do not need a foreskin.

by that logic, then either is the procedures the right is trying to get banned

the point is though, one form of genital mutilation is forced on a child, the other is not

cutting off a part of a child's privates is in no way comparable to clipping their fingernails - your logic is like saying declawing a cat is the same as trimming its nails

Slicing off healthy breasts and penises is not 'affirming', it's sick. If your child suffered from the delusion that they were a pirate, would you amputate their eye and give him a patch, and amputate his lower leg and give him a peg?

'WELL THIS WAS UNEXPECTED: Latest edition of the Beckett Foundation for Religious Liberty’s annual survey finds a huge increase in support of religious freedom for everybody, fueled by worries about protecting parents’ rights.'

“Support for religious freedom hit its highest score ever of 69 on a scale of 0 to 100. The 2023 results found that Americans strongly back the right of parents to raise their children consistent with their faith and believe that religion is part of the solution to America’s problems — up nine percentage points from last year,” Beckett said.
    • '67% of Americans support opt-outs from school curriculum that parents think is morally objectionable or inappropriate.
    • 58% of Americans (+12 since 2021) oppose school policies requiring students and employees to use preferred pronouns.'
'Another key finding of the survey is that a huge majority of Americans continue to support the fundamental principles underlying the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFFA) of 1993. Ironically perhaps, the RFRA was first introduced by then-Rep. Chuck Schumer, the New York Democrat who is now the Senate Majority Leader.'

'Adoption of the Bill of Rights was insisted upon by the states and were written to guarantee protection of the American people as individuals against abuses of their God-given rights by men in government.'

It also makes total MAGA sense that a teacher complimenting a socially transitioning/transitioned student on their appearance, new hairstyle, outfit etc would definitely be a reason for putting them on the sex offenders list too, eh?

Rep.Jamie Gragg is one sick puppy whose bill will be DOA, but he obviously got his cookies off conjuring it up

    MISSOURI
'Missouri teachers using affirming ‘pronouns’ could face felony crime'
'The proposed law prescribes penalties beyond a felony charge in the form of forcing the person convicted to register as a sexual offender'

' Bill 2885 was introduced by Republican State Representative Jamie Ray Gragg (District 140 Christian County), a first term lawmaker who has previously publicly expressed strong anti-LGBTQ+ viewpoints as well as being anti-abortion rights. He sits on four House committees; Children and Families, Elementary and Secondary Education, Healthcare Reform, and Subcommittee on Appropriations- Education.

'In the bill, the language reads:

    1. A person commits the offense of contributing to social transition if
2 the person is acting in his or her official capacity as a teacher or school counselor and
3 the person provides support, regardless of whether the support is material, information,
4 or other resources to a child regarding social transition.
5 2. The offense of contributing to social transition is a class E felony.
6 3. As used in this section, the following terms mean:
      7 (1) “Child”, a person under eighteen years of age;
8 (2) “Social transition”, the process by which an individual adopts the name,
9 pronouns, and gender expression, such as clothing or haircuts, that match the
      10 individual’s gender identity and not the gender assumed by the individual’s sex at birth;
11 (3) “Teacher”, as that term is defined in subdivisions (4), (5), and (7) of section
      12 168.104.
The proposed law prescribes penalties beyond a felony charge in the form of forcing the person convicted to register as a Tier I sexual offender with required annual registration.'

'Missouri teachers who support a trans minor's social transition could face felony, be put on sex offender list under proposed law.'
    Source: ABC News

'A new Missouri bill would make it a felony offense for school teachers or counselors to support or contribute to the social transitioning of a transgender minor. The proposed law would also have an offender be placed on the sexual offender registry.

Social transitioning, as defined in House Bill 2885, is when an individual adopts a name, pronouns and gender expression -- such as clothing or a haircut -- that does not match their assigned sex at birth.

If a teacher or counselor "provides support, regardless of whether the support is material, information or other resources," they could be convicted of a Class E felony conviction, facing up to four years in prison or a fine up to $10,000, according to the Missouri Revisor of Statutes. The bill is in the early stages of consideration and is subject to amendments if it progresses through the state Legislature.

The bill's sponsor, Republican state Rep. Jamie Gragg, told local news outlet KY3 the bill would likely apply to the inclusion of any LGBTQ-related books or signs in classrooms.

The government, via the FDA, controls/regulates EVERYTHING that is allowed to take place regarding the practice of medicine.

    Why would this be different?

Today, parents that protect their children from "gender warriors" and lousy, irrelevant subject matter - "Mary has two mothers" - and "close enough" in math is good enough!"
These parents are being labeled as "Christian" and "fundamentalists" and "MAGA", and FBI suspects.
Parents advocate for their kids, teacher's unions consider them to be the enemy.

BTW: Only progressives could turn "Make America Great Again" into a slur. Go figure.

This is what is know as deflection. Comparing removing a foreskin to removing a penis or a uterus is just completely idiotic. There us no known provable loss of function with the removal of a foreskin.

No. They don't. Otherwise "alternative medicine" like acupuncture or homeopathy would be illegal. You've been sold a lie about what's going on.

genital mutilation is genital mutilation, defending forcing it on a child is wrong - there is loss of sensations with Circumcisions and many potential complications with this elective surgery

Good thing it's an imaginary boogeyman to begin with and people aren't actually going around chopping the penises off of children. The RW just made it up for another way to control their base, just like making up lies about kids using litter boxes in schools and kids being taught critical race theory. They will make up anything to get their base to do the only trick they need them to do: panic.

@Patricio Da Silva its nice to see that someone on the left can see the SUPER OBVIOUS dangers of this on children (unfortunately you are like the 0.0001% of the left that thinks logically about this topic).

My point is 100% valid. The FDA fully regulates the doctor-patient relationship, specifically in regard to what procedures and drugs are allowed to be utilized.

I can understand your desire to not want to be corrected in that manner when you have made an obvious faux pas in assuming the government is not involved in the doctor-patient relationship... but cmon. Arguing about procedures and compounds that are not considered medical such as homeopathic remedies/alternative medicine etc. is just silly. They also don't regulate Doc Holiday, but that is equally irrelevant. We arent talking about homeopathy. We are talking about real doctors (M.D.'s and D.O.'s) that provide real medical treatments.

These real doctors are 100% regulated and controlled as to what they can and cannot do in the world of medicine. The fake doctors that you reference are not regulated by the FDA, rather they are just regulated by the law in that they are not allowed to practice medicine as it is defined by the FDA. There is nothing there to legitimately argue. You would do your credibility some good if you simply acknowledged this unassailable fact rather than trying to argue what amounts to abject nonsense. This discussion has not one thing to do with the non-medical doctor/patient relationship.

As someone that has worked in medical sales and thus worked under the auspices of the FDA for most of my career, for you to try to act like I "have been sold a lie about whats going on" is, in a word, just silly. The existence of alternative medicine that isn't defined as the practice of medicine at all, has not one thing to do with what is being discussed with gender affirmative care being banned, specifically, the use of puberty blockers. If someone wants to give them acupuncture or some vitamins.....have at it. Nobody cares. That is NOT what is being discussed.

They are engaged propaganda warfare against The People of the United States, but, I think more and more people are becoming aware that, especially as it's painfully obvious.

That's fair. Trans therapy, drugs, surgery, whatever, should only be allowed until a child has reached the age of consent.

I believe child counselors should always get a child, if a boy, if gay, to be proud to be a gay boy, because a boy is not a girl, and vice versa. If their desire is so strong it continues to adulthood, then they can make personal choices from there. In my point of view, it is healthier for an effeminate male to accept that THAT is what 'he' (not 'she' ) is. Accept what you are. Your physicality defines your sex, not your mentality. What adults want to do is none of anyone's business. But society has an interest that children are not abused or led astray.

The care is not "affirming" suicide rates double after they're destroyed with drugs and/or scapals which should be a surprise to no one.

Idaho Government Signs Bill Giving Teachers the Freedom to Use Correct Pronouns without Being Sued or Fired

'That's where we are now -- it takes a special act of a state legislature to give people permission to speak the obvious truth.'

Tell the Edu-thugs to sod off

'Idaho school districts soon will have to remove any requirements that teachers use transgender students' fictitious pronouns.

'Gov. Brad Little signed House Bill 538 Monday. The legislation, sponsored by Rep. Ted Hill, R-Eagle, broadly enacts protections for public employees, including teachers, who are unwilling to use someone's' fictitious name and pronouns. It had overwhelming support' at the Statehouse.

'The bill bars teachers from referring to a student by a name or pronoun that doesn't align with their birth sex, unless the teacher has parental consent. It also gives teachers the right to sue their district if they're disciplined for refusing to use a transgender student's preferred name or pronoun.'

'Little "supports policies that advance free speech and parental rights," and "this bill does both," Madison Hardy, the governor's spokeswoman, said by email. "While Gov. Little expects state employees to treat each other and members of the community with dignity and respect, he does not support government compelling speech at risk of penalty or excluding parents from significant decisions impacting a child's health and wellbeing."'

'On Talk TV, the interviewer flatly refused to use a guest's stupid "they/them" pronouns.'
