But Trump did like him. So are you saying Trump made a move that even Obama wouldn't make?

Surprising comment from someone who believes Trump won the election.

trump regularly said that he would be President for life or at minimum past the 8 years limited by the constitution. Then he was telegraphing for months prior to the election that he wouldn’t accept defeat or commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he lost. Then after the election he did exactly that, refused to accept defeat or commit to a peaceful transfer of power. He then forced the resignation of the attorney general, fired the secretary of defense and numerous other high ranking pentagon officials, replacing them with people he thought were loyalists. Every living former secretary of defense, including the one he just fired, wrote a letter in the Washington Post warning Trump not to “use the military in election disputes” 3 days before January 6th.

Saying you don’t believe that is what is was doing is one thing but being unable to see how anyone could see this as anything but an attempt to remain in power is a desperate ploy to save face.

All this is true, but there's more.

In July 2020, Trump wanted to postpone the elections using the severity of the pandemic as an excuse.... when he himself minimized it.

And he repeated that he couldn't lose unless the election was rigged.

He prepared public opinion well in advance for what he would do if he lost.

No, it shows he is smart. He planned for the possibility of dirty donny trying to use the military to stay in power. That is how concerned he was about donny’s behaviour.

The fact that donny didn’t give the order is secondary to the fact that Milley thought he might give it.

All this shows is that Milley should step down from the Joint chiefs of staff. The FBI we learned was warned well over a month of the planned riots and the White House sought to aid the capitol, yet the Pentagon failed to prepare a defense and we're to believe it's because they were obsessed with a Trump coup.

This is in line with Milley being concerned with global warming and other things instead of national defense. Why do we have a lack of leadership in the Pentagon?

Yet it sure is great for profits for the Author...You guys crack me up and I bet Milley is getting some cash for this and I know he broke the law in Afghanistan and it's really scary for our country when a general decides what calls for military intervention vs a President. If this cluck defied Biden's orders I would say throw his ass in jail too. He isn't elected therefore not accountable to the public, that is against the law period and dangerous for any country.

It is worrying to think how close we came to a Trump power grab. What if Pence actually had given in to Trump's pressure, and he had not certified Biden as the new president? We could very well be here with Trump still in power today. Of course, all hell would have broken loose, with mass protests, a government crisis etc.. maybe even mass civil unrest.

    Relax, it's all allegations.

And then the MAGA's make me laugh.

You yourself would have trampled the Constitution to keep Trump as President.

    The cult.

Besides, you're not alone, 55% of those who still call themselves Republicans would have been willing to do the same thing.

And you dare to consider yourselves patriots....

So, between the MAGA and General Milley, do you really think the choice is difficult?

Milley's oath is to the Constitution, not the President. And, while the President is the Commander-in-Chief, Milley doesn't have to obey an illegal order...i.e. an order contrary to the Constitution. Nor, did VP Pence have to follow Trump's orders. The President can't remove the Vice President and Pence was acting as President of the Senate, overseeing the joint session, which was overseeing the count. Pence had also released a statement before the opening of the session confirming his opinion that he could NOT return certified electoral ballots to the states.

It's possible, however, that had the Cruz motion carried, the count could have been delayed. The SCOTUS would have been reluctant to have become involved in an intra-Congressional dispute and had Cruz's motion, for a National Commission and a ten day delay, while the Commission "audited" the election, might (a very slim-to-no chance) have allowed for the delay. Further, IF, during that delay, somehow Arizona, Wisconsin and Georgia had reversed their votes, the electoral count would have tied, throwing the election to the House. The House vote, under the circumstances of a tie in the electoral vote, votes with one vote per state. Given that, Trump could have won the election by around 30 - 21 votes (one Biden vote from the District of Columbia).

Assuming, in that case, the country would be in turmoil, the President may have had his "Reichstag Moment," calling on emergency powers, and then overthrowing the government, while claiming he was legally re-elected, via the House. Again...the chances for that actually playing out would have been close to nil and you'd have to either be seriously misinterpreting the Constitution, deranged, or intentionally planning on a coup to have tried to carry out such a plan. The January 6th rallies were out of place and it's difficult to see their purpose other than as a serious attempt to delay the electoral count. Why is that important? Because if the above was the plan it was sedition.

Even more BS hyperbole from you. I wouldn't support that and I sure as hell don't support Generals overriding Presidents while legally in office. I know you love to project and profile people, you just understand that it's a foolish endeavor that leads to you looking foolish more times than not. I love the hypocrisy of you saying police shouldn't profile yet you do it daily, it's hilarious.

The MAGA always find ways to discredit those who criticize Trump.

Even those who were appointed by him and whose competence he has praised:

“He’s a great gentleman, he’s a great patriot, he’s a great soldier. And I look forward to that,” Trump told reporters later Saturday, praising Milley after announcing his nomination.

You are mired in a cult.

But you will eventually deprogram yourself and be ashamed of the positions you take today.

No, a book claims that the US Army Chief of Staff did. There is no evidence that Milley said any such thing.

Again with your BS cult hyperbole, you can't stay on subject. Let's make this simple for you:
I don't nor would support Trump trying to stay in office.
I don't nor would support any military general trying to go around and promote military intervention in any circumstance, that would override a legally sitting president.
You are up in arms about something Trump didn't do but carry on with the outrage of the faux coup.

Don't make me believe that this changes anything for you.

Milley would come out and confirm it, you'd find a way to smear his record, just like Trump is doing today.
