This is the way it goes every election. It's getting quite old to see the republicans losing by 10% every election even in winning years but when have the democrats ever trailed behind the republican for the entire year before? Yes, that is suppressing votes of all voters who might vote for the republican, not JUST republican voters. It's a psychological way of convincing people what most other people are thinking, therefore you should think that way also.

So for the Dems, they got absolutely no bounce whatsoever out of their convention, instead Trump got the boost.

Perfect. As an example, Reagan trailed President Carter by over 25% in early 1980, a few weeks before the election Reagan trailed Carter by 4 to 6% in two major polls. Reagan beat Carter by nearly 10% making the difference about 15%!
