Not even CLOSE. The total number of nursing home deaths was 7500...and many of that number occurred in homes that did NOT have patients come back to them after hospital treatment.

Total deaths in NY? 35,000. Work on your math

Odd that they didn't claim that prior to Trump giving them the OK

COVID-19 destroys the respiratory system and is said to cause damage to several organs even if the person does survive.

So if it isn't what it is, what is it? Trump told the Democrat genius that the case fatality rate in the US, a number we know and can control, is lower than the case fatality rate for most other countries, numbers they know. The genius wasn't satisfied. He wanted to compare total COVID fatality rates, numbers nobody knows.

Trump has brought back the manufacture of PPE and other medical devices that Obama outsourced so we don't risk a shortage. He facilitated the domestic manufacture of ventilators. He accelerated work on therapeutics and vaccines. He has gone above and beyond what the Feds ought to be doing. Now, it's up to the medical community and whether or not blue state governors and mayors want to continue spreading the disease with the riots they've been inciting --- and Trump has even pressured them to quit killing people to win the WH in November.

Yes ,,, it is what it is.

    Nonsense.

We are still short of PPE and still short of tests

Trump has not just been vacant...he has been an impediment

@drluggit wants trump to be credited for everything good and to blame everyone for everything bad, including when the states that he feels have done the worse on the virus for following a policy issued by trump's federal government.

Not as much of an impediment as his predecessor. While Bush stocked PPE that wasn't needed on his watch, the sign of character deficiency was for Obama to use the stockpile Bush left him and not replenish it ,,, because he was too busy spying on the Trump campaign and trying to frame associates working for Trump. That was the genius who taxed medical device manufacture out of the country to pay for his failed Obamacare.

President Trump has acknowledged that the federal stockpile of personal protective equipment is nearly depleted, and there are reports the Obama administration failed to replenish the federal stockpile of N95 masks after the H1N1 influenza outbreak in 2009.

USA Today fact-checked that claim and it didn’t turn out too well for Barack Obama — or Joe Biden.

Both the Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg News reported that the inventory of N95 masks, which filter out airborne particles, was depleted in 2009.

Bloomberg News reported that the 2009 outbreak “triggered a nationwide shortage of masks and caused a 2- to 3-year backlog orders for the N95 variety,” noting that about three-quarters of the federal inventory was distributed and officials “didn’t build back the supply.”

The Los Angeles Times reported recommendations were made after the outbreak in 2009 to replenish the depleted supplies of N95 respirator masks.

Keep in mind, these are not exactly hostile media outlets when it comes to Obama. In fact, the media was engaged in a slobbering love affair with the former president and these three outlets were near the front of that line.

After laying out a detailed history of the federal stockpile, USA Today noted that the inventory was “seriously taxed” during Obama’s presidency, and that available funds were used not to replenish masks.

Don't you worry. If Biden gets elected, you'll attach anything that sucks to him. Roles will be reversed.

@mitchscove well it depends on what you mean by "is" if you want the answer to "if it isn't what it is, what is it?" Probably need to define "it" too.

In the best of times, "it is what it is" is a callous indifference to 1000 Americans dying per day. At worse, it is an admission by trump that he is powerless to do a damn thing to protect the lives and safety of the people that he supposedly represents.

But "it is what it is" is also a direct refutation of the conspiracy theories that you repeatedly embrace by claiming that these Americans are not really dying from covid-19 and it is the height of absurdity to claim that we can know the numbers that make up the mortality rate (i.e. deaths as a proportion of cases), but we can't know the deaths as a proportion of the total population.

Unless you want to claim that the number that "nobody knows" is the population? Sounds dumb, doesn't it?

Why? He won't even know what is going on? And you're ok with that, seemingly.

Yet every other governor didn't guess they were smarter, now let's see the guideline that said send Positive Nursing home patients back to the nursing home instead of that big beautiful EMPTY hospital ship in port that Trump sent, or that wall of portable hospital tents Trump sent because Cuomo couldn't remotely control the outbreak, even shutting down the entire city for months. You partisan's crack me up you rail day after day about Florida and TX which have more cases yet 20%ish of the deaths NY alone has? NY, NJ and Cali have a quarter of all the deaths in the entire US, yet you defend them. It's hilarious reading the BS.

It is what it is. Trump had no control over democrat governors putting sick people into nursing homes. Its a new virus and kills people with poor life styles and higher in age the most. Other than that, weve made strides in how to treat those who are sick. Couldn't help Herman Cain, it was just his time to go. Don't take life so seriously, youll never get out alive.

    For the bolded?

The quote is, "just keep calm and one day it will go away, like a miracle." He said it to a group of black supporters in the White House.

He said it in late February, the same day that the Russian bounty intelligence was included in his daily briefing actually.

You could have helped Herman Cain by not holding a large, in person campaign rally during the middle of a pandemic.

Didn't see a chart verifying your claim of a current death rate of a thousand per day

Herman Cain didn't have to go but how do you know that was where he contracted the virus?
