    • The income tax returns of former President Donald Trump must be released by the IRS to Congress, the Department of Justice said.
    • The DOJ's Office of Legal Counsel said that Congress had made a legitimate request to see Trump's tax returns.
    • The decision came more than a year after the Supreme Court said that Trump's tax returns and other financial records had to be turned over by his longtime accountants to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. as part of a criminal probe.

IIRC, weren't some of these documents leaked last year? I seem to recall something about him paying $750 TOTAL in taxes here and a few hundred thousand in taxes to China.

Congress doesn't just get to peek at people's taxes. They will lose this battle, yet again.

Nah. They have no legitimate reason to request them.

No, the media does, so they can try to distract America from Joe Biden 's and the democrats' failures in office.

Yep. If they will file a fraudulent FISA application to spy on Trump, the DOJ will help Congress get his taxes, too, illegally.

WHY? What business is it of Congress a private citizens tax returns? What legislative purpose, broad authority for legislative purposes to obtain tax records, do they need Trump's tax return?

I do not think that Merrick Garland, an experienced and well respected federal judge will be approving any fraudulent FISA warrant applications.

Doubtful. There's no legislative purpose for Congress to make the request. This is purely political, and illegal.

I guess a judge will rule on that. However it is my understanding that several judges have already rued that Trump must produce his tax information to law enforcement agencies. I guess we will see.

The judges didn't rule the IRS had to release them for pure Congressional curiosity. They ruled they could be released for a case in NY against Trump.

Different branch of government... You know, executive branch, legislative branch, judicial branch....

Tax policy. Who you think writes it? Who has IRS oversight?

Trump hasn’t had much success with US Courts lately. If I were to bet on this one, I’d have to wager that he loses again. I am not sure what the exact laws are regarding this, but I bet Garland is.....just sayin’
