We KNOW he knew that the nation was facing a cataclysm. It's on tape. We know he admitted to "downplaying" the virus that has killed TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND Americans

He knew that it was far more deadly than the flu. That is was extremely contagious. That it was as bad as the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918. And he knew that it most certainly infected children.

And he lied about all of that.

He claim he didn't want to panic the nation. Really?

Then why is he STILL lying about it? Still downplaying it?

Why did he not insist that we get functional tests QUICKLY? Why did he not invoke the DPA in FEBRUARY to get PPE and ventilators in place?

Why did he not shut down travel from Europe in FEBRUARY?

Why did he not quarantine or even TRACK returning travelers?

Why did he LIE about children being "basically immune" when he clearly knew differently?

He didn't care about "panic". He cared about trying to keep the economy going (and failing there because the virus simply will not allow that).

He lied about every aspect of this catastrophe and he's lying about why he lied

By March 19, when Trump told Woodward he was purposely downplaying the dangers to avoid creating a panic, he also acknowledged the threat to young people. "Just today and yesterday, some startling facts came out. It's not just old, older. Young people too, plenty of young people," Trump said.

Publicly, however, Trump has continued to insist just the opposite, saying as recently as August 5 that children were "almost immune."

No, he was not afraid. He correctly did not want to stir up a public panic.

Leaders in other countries were forthright and honest with yheir citizens, and no one panicked. Does Trump think Americans are too weak to handle the truth? Do you?

    A. That's bullshit. Trump thrives on panic.
    B. If that were true...why did he not take the appropriate steps privately?
    C. When your house is on fire....the fire department doesn't worry about panic...they get you out and fight the fire

Trump clearly knew "our house was on fire"

And D. Cuomo was forthright with the people of NY. He told us we were going to face a horrific couple of months at least with a lot of death and misery.

    There was no panic

Yes people panic in NY. The whole state was locked down. People stopped traveling, stopped going to restaurants, movies, and salons and stopped going to the office. Children were out of school. THAT'S PANIC.

Trump was able to prevent that level of panic nationwide. For weeks after NY panic, Trump was able to keep the rest of America going as normal.

No, just a lot of Cuomo instigated deaths. Cuomo was more forthright because he though he could browbeat Trump for a lot more money and support, ya know like maybe another hospital that Cuomo would know how to use, or patch up his spending problems.

    Can't believe anyone accepts this.

The truth is that Trump panicked. The rest of us were fine. Trump saw his reelection slipping away, and went into panic mode. The rest of us are paying for Trump's inability to lead.

    So your own descriptive!

    cataclysm
With that as an opener you are going to try and convince people that a better option was for the President to ADD more fear to
    a "nation was facing a cataclysm. It's on tape."

Lockdowns do not indicate panic. They are the appropriate response to a pandemic. No, children being out of school is not panic. Typing in caps is.

Trump finally had to confront something he couldn't control. First time in his life. I guess I should cut him some slack for panicking, but we passed that point months ago. That he continues to lie about covid is inexcusable. Gotta vote him out.

Really? So when you were in school and they had a fire drill, was it controlled, did your instructors keep it calm and orderly?

Or was it balls out screaming and every man/child for his self ;)

The interview with Woodward was Feb 7th when he said he was downplaying it not to panic the nation.....at that point no cases were in the United States The President had already attempted to send CDC officals to China to help, they wouldn't allow it...he had sent PPE to try and contain it there, as well as closed down travel from China

Children are almost immune...they don't get it....young v old is subjective....40 is young to 70.
