    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...s-Britain-face-recall-Volkswagen-scandal.html

The 64 dollar question of course is "if VW are doing it, how can we be sure that Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Skoda
and every other manufacturer in Germany are not doing it"
Next 64 dollar question is "what is your VW worth, either as a tradein or say a buy back"
Will there be a class action against VW...
Many questions follow, such as "how is this going to effect the motor industry in Germany"
How is going to effect Germany...
Dont forget Germany bailed out Greece...what did that cost...
Dont forget Germany has thousands of economic immigrants (refugees) entering the country...what will that cost...
BTW German automotive companies have a world market share of 90%....hhhmmm I think that's about to reduce
based purely on a total lack of trust.......

The answer could be.....jimmy crack corn....and I dont care.....

Of course Deputy PM Warren (Trust Me) Truss says our emission controls are three
years behind that of Europe so vee dubs in Australia probably have a weaker emission
    control...therefore Aussie owners needn't worry....yeah right......

:roflol: Two weeks after receipt of DaS Diesel, Volkswagen turned Das Auto. No DaS Diesel!

PM Malcolm wants more of the Student who came up with the good little earner for somebody.

Porch dive in. Rule number one, do not lend to students not of Malcolm's school!

    Easy subject,
the world has to find standards, which are the same everywhere. Same emission laws, same procedures. And the same applies for fuel consumption.
Have you ever driven any vehicle which used what the sticker in the windscreen suggested?
For what VW did they should be penalized, but how hard?
I believe all manufactures are cheating, everywhere.
    Cheers

I got better mileage than what the sticker claimed with my Jetta TDI.

Not a good time to buy a VW, but a GREAT time to buy VW stock for the long hold.

My vehicles can match the mpg claims that came on the window. I usually drive them a little harder than that but they can do it fairly easy.

I have a Mazda RX-8 at this time and it can barely make what the sticker says but if I drive it hard, I am lucky to get 13mpg. Thirsty vehicle but a lot of fun to drive. If I drive it to get the best mileage then it will tend to carbon up the seals. The advice for this car is to drive it like you stole it, which again is much fun.

Obviously you didn't buy the RX-8 because you wanted the most efficient car on the road. Lol
I have a 2011 civic and 2014 Ram Quad cab 2500. They'll get sticker performance. The Ram of course must be driven carefully to do so. It's a beast of a truck and it'll show in the gas mileage if you drive it like a sports car. Driven conscientiously it will occasionally get better highway performance than the sticker suggested.

I think most drivers don't understand what great effect idling and heavy acceleration has on fuel economy. In my civic it's only a few miles per gallon. Not really worth the effort of driving carefully. The Ram is another story. On a long highway trip just getting off the highway for a restroom break is enough to skew the average mpg.
Fuel consumption statistics is interesting but in the end we drive em the way we need to at the time.

Nope, I bought the RX-8 because it is sort of a geeks car and I had a rotory back in the 70's and had a lot of fun with it. Besides, I have had many sports cars in the past but I have to say, I wouldn't mind still having the Jetta for the longer trips.

    4. Rethink diesels. Volkswagen has become as intertwined with diesels as Toyota has with hybrids. Its message has been simple: Diesels deliver more power and better fuel economy with only a modest price premium over gas engines. Now that it has seriously wounded its diesel reputation in the U.S., it is the perfect time for Volkswagen to pivot and look to other fuel-saving technologies on which to rebuild its reputation for fastidious German engineering.

GM MOTORS was the first one to get caught a few years back but the media silenced it right away...

Always wanted to know in a country like Australia where the average speed limit is 110 kilometers per hour, why vehicles were made capable of doing 200 kilometers per hour?

The diesel has undergone plenty of changes in the last three decades, which made him extremly fuel efficient and torquey.
However, the emission in contrast to a petrol motor have always been bad, carbon pollution to name just one.
The last decade we could see a change (very noticable), with more efforts being directed towards modern petrol motors.
I think we are seeing an end of the diesel in small passenger cars, as hybrids and high efficient petrol burners mark a new direction.
The diesel however will remain important for trucks and 4x4....

The scale of VW's deception became clear when the company admitted that 11 million of its diesel cars are equipped with so-called defeat devices that covertly turn off pollution controls when the car is being driven normally-- and back on when tests are being conducted.
The scam could lead to fines worth more than $18 billion (16.1 billion euros), while the German giant has already seen billions of euros wiped off its stocks this week.
18 billion dollars....thats a helluva fine in anyones language...

    Yeap,
they deserve a fine, a big one. But how big? No idea.....

    However,
the world owes the Germans the knowledge and forefront development in building petrol and diesel misers, not even Japanese or Korean cars come close.
Does it justify VW actions? Nope........

We need to get rid of this unleaded crap. Years ago cars running leaded fuel were more efficient and more powerful. I noticed the difference straight away when I bought my first unleaded vehicle.

Think Criminal Fraud, Think Money Back!

"The consumer watchdog is investigating whether Australian consumers who bought Volkswagen cars might have been misled by the carmaker.

The ACCC is taking the action following the German carmaker's admission that it that it deliberately sought to circumvent US pollution rules."

Porsrch if contrite would be about upgrading deceited purchasers a vehicle upgrade.

Porch had notice from DaS long before the now Das Auto engaged in criminal fraud to get their diesels into the new Ameican market'

Das Auto weighed up the cost of engine conversion against a Das Auto chip. Das Auto action was no knee jerk reaction!

Of course some of you may not know what the XY is, it was an iconic Australian muscle car of the 70's. It's hotter version the GTHO Phase III was Moffitt's famous Bathurst winning car
It develops 380 bhp. I can put a kit on mine to make it 450 bhp.

Volkswagen and Audi officials met with the Liberal Party and the ACC on Friday, promising to update them on whether Australians have been sold cars fitted with so-called defeat devices to cheat emissions testing.

'Minister for Territories, Local Government and Major Projects Paul Fletcher said in a statement.'The Liberal Party expects this information to be provided next week.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s appointment of Paul Fletcher as Minister for Territories, Local Government and Major Projects is good news for Australia’s local government authorities. But explains nothing as to why he is buying in on the Das Auto deceit to Australians.

'That is not soon enough for law firm Maurice Blackburn.

Class actions principal Damian Scattini said he will now talk to colleagues in the United States, where Volkswagen faces a possible $US18 billion ($A25.6 billion) fine and criminal charges after the discovery that 482,000 of its diesel cars there were emitting up to 40 times more toxic fumes than permitted.

Mr Scattini said consumers were concerned at the resale value of vehicles, the effect repairs could have on engines' longevity, and the environmental impact.

He added that motorists could even be voiding their insurance by driving a car with an illegal modification.

Mr Scattini said it is inconceivable that VW doesn't have all the relevant information.'Germans are good record keepers.

Mr Scattini said.'I can't believe for a moment they don't know what's happening here. If they did not have those engines in Australia, they would very quickly say we don't have those here and it's not a problem'.

'The ACCC has demanded Volkswagen hand over all marketing material to see if it misled or deceived buyers and could issue fines of up to $1.1 million per breach of consumer law.

'They could be for each vehicle, or for the advertising medium, there are various ways to come at it,' ACCC chairman Rod Sims said on Thursday.
