    Wait, so someone grabbed the wife's necklace and took off, running for their car... and the old guy killed him because he was still in danger from the guy running away? It would have been impossible to get the necklace back in any other way (like getting the plate of the car the criminal climbed into)?

    I definately agree the criminal was a scumbag, I don't think immediately resorting to endangering everyone in the parking lot was justified. Do you?

    I wouldn't indict him if I were on the grand jury. Texas law states that he is responsible for every round that leaves his gun. If he misses and hurts somebody or does property damage, he is responsible for it and will pay with his freedom if need be.

    So we shouldn't make sure people are trained in firearms before encouraging them to shoot in a public area at someone who is not a threat, but we should hold these "law abiding citizens" accountable if (as result of the lack of controls) they end up injuring or killing a bystander...?

    Does that make any sense?

    Most shooters I know are trained in how to handle a gun and practice safe storage. I suppose you have a problem with those people?
    Licensing (regulating) is of no value.
    There is no living without risks.

    it is easier and simpler for them to drag one out and establish that one as the rule for all.......................socialist always want to blame everyone for the actions of one. They know one guy that has never taken any safety classes and determine that no one has.
    One guy uses a gun for the commission of a crime, therefore, all gunowners are criminal..........1+1 is anything but 2

    I didn't "encourage" that guy to do anything. He exercised his rights and was responsible for his own choices. How do we know he didn't do competitive shooting and taught NRA gun safety courses for 40 years?

    That guys CHL says he has had training on use of force laws and been proficiency tested with a firearm. He has been fingerprinted and background checks ran on the state and federal level.

    In my state, the state police are only required to visit the gun range once every 6 months. I, personally, go at least once a month, and I shoot on my property every week, multiple times per week. It would be a reasonable guess to say this guy was at least as practiced and proficient as the cop that responded to the call.
