Did you ever think that the flu would be so prolific in your community that when you needed emergency healthcare for something else, your hospital turned you away due to lack of beds?

    1) Nope. We haven't had anything but random individual cases since last year.
    2) Not really. Everything is basically circa 2019 at this point - all of the defence work is now just done at the borders and in quarantine - not in the general community.
    3) Very low levels of vaccination. a) we have hardly any COVID, and b) we got The Clotter, so very few people under 60 are willing to take it. Many of us in the 30 - 60 age range are waiting until other options become available.
    4) Our national borders have been closed for over a year, and I hope they stay that way.

That is your opinion. I just don't share it.

    .

There weren't many rules mandated by the Republican ruled state of Texas. But the number of customers inside some businesses was restricted. When Democrat ruled large cities/counties began imposing their own draconian rules, the state of Texas passed laws to forbid it.

Here in Dallas County, the ONLY thing I personally ever had to do was wear a mask and social distance inside private businesses that required it.

It’s not an opinion, it’s exactly what is happening in India right now, people dying from a lack of critical care

It's not an 'opinion', it's the medical/scientific reason for taking this virus so seriously.

They don't get it. They are so focused on mortality rates that they missed the real danger entirely.

Also live in FL. If you're vaccinated, which is freely available, you can live perfectly safe. What the hell are you talking about?

Your chance of being infected is like getting struck by lightning if you’re vaccinated. Do you fear being struck by lightning 24/7 because that would be a mental disease. Get vaccinated and keep wearing a mask until you die. Free country. Be crazy.

Since last week there is a very noticeable difference in those not wearing masks now but if you’re vaccinated there is no reason to anymore. Was in Publix in the morning and most were still wearing masks. Went in the afternoon and it was reversed.

Grocery stores are a decent baseline for mask vs maskless study for those of us novices who care. I regularly sit outside Publix getting curbside and I people watch. It amazes me how many people I see walking in without masks when by my own counties data only 38% of our residence are full vaccinated. Theoretically I should see 1 in 3 maskless, right? Last trip I sat in the lot for about 10 minutes, I counted 3 people with masks out of maybe 35-40 entering/exiting. Publix never enforced their mask mandate and so no one believes they will enforce being maskless only if you're vaccinated. Solid deep red county btw.

Did you know there is a correlation between the beginning of the vaccination efforts and the case and death rate in India?

Live in an Oklahoma Metro surrounded by suburbs with different rules and guidelines. Over all I feel like things are back to normal. Some businesses require masks some don't. I keep one in my purse to be on the ready. I regretfully am vaccinated. If I'd known how sick I was going to get with the second shot I probably would have declined. I hadn't got sick in 26 years and if that trend changes now that I got vacced....I'm not going to be happy.

Most people I know are vaccinated. A few won't do it.

I've heard a few stories like yours. I know a few people who have not taken the second shot because of it.

I don't see the point in being injected with a toxic drug to protect me from a virus that my immune system has already protected me from during the last 18 months, but then I don't take the flu shots either. I don't see the point in taking a dangerous drug to protect me from a virus with a 99% survival rate.

    Good luck to you!

Publix changed their mask policy last week. Is your Karenesque spying before or after the mask policy change?

In my neck of the woods in Florida, Publix has not cared whether you wear a mask or not, and it's been that way for 8 or 9 months.

Yes I was pretty angry....three days of misery, muscle spasm, fever, chills, I couldn't frigging move cause of the pain. The crazy thing is my daughter her boyfriend and his family got covid with much milder symptoms. Their main symptoms was fatigue for a couple of days! My son got covid and had fever and fatigue for two days! Then he enjoyed a two week paid "vacation" quarantine.

And then there was me that took a shot to get truly sick.

My husband had NO sickness or side effects with his shots. As my parents. But it almost seems 50/50. I know others who got very ill...even those who previously had covid.

What I was thinking as I was shaking and my body was getting wracked....was how this type of reaction would adversely affect those who DO have preexisting conditions?

A little bit of solace: you and Eric Clapton are in the same boat.

Haha Kareneque spying. The spots where I pickup my curbside have a clear view of the door and I people watch while I wait for them to bring my stuff out. Doing at least one pickup a week for over a year now I've been able to keep a good eye on mask participation so I've seen it before and after.

Well I recall an earlier claim of yours about mask adherence in public during the height of the pandemic, and I didn't find it credible then, and I don't now. I also have a local Publix and your observations don't ring true at all.

I can only speak for what I witness in my area but I speak on it truthfully. Mask participation here started out ok but fell as the political division on the subject rose. Each time Pres Trump or Gov DeathSantis took a swipe at masks - participation diminished. When videos of Publix managers tossing out people who call out unmasked customers instead of the unmasked customers themselves went viral leading to the general understanding that Publix will not enforce its 'requirement' - participation diminished. When Pres Biden chose to use the CDC as a cover for his mounting failures resulting in this unjustified change in guidance - participation diminished.

    1. The poster that was addressed to didn't dispute it. I've no doubt he remembers the exchange.

    2. If you think I have a dishonest history, where I just make things up, feel free to post some examples. I'd be curious.
