The lockdowns saved lives and ALL the other things were caused by Republican policies enforced from outside the State. Newsom was only recently elected by a large majority and has done a good job considering what Republicans have handed him. This is the constant Republican strategy, ****ing things up and then blaming it all on Democrats who are trying to fix it.

There you see the New Republican Strategy. They can't win elections any more because people have wised up to the fact that the want to benefit no one but a very select few so now they are going to attack the credibility of the elections. The idea is for them to rig the election in their favor in the name of keeping the election from being rigged, which was never happening in the first place. It's a rather transparent scam and I believe the American people will see through it quite readily. One of the many weaknesses of Republicans is that they think we're all stupid.

Joe knows bullshit, that's for sure.

You are confusing convenience with laziness.

Laziness doesn't even vote. Why stand in line for hours, when a two steps to the mail box will do the same? Moreover, mail voting allows one to consort the issues via the internet while one is making one's selections about what initiative, or person to vote for. Would this not allow for more prudent and wise decision making? Would not this improve the overall caliber of the election?

Your trivialization of entitlements is simplistic nonsense, but of course, you don't mind corporate welfare at all, but gawd forbid in the needy are helped.

    Republicans are a bizarre lot.

I heard the military employed psychics to help them win wars, CIA, did this as well, and numerous police departments employed psychics to help them find criminals.

Maybe psychics are a good thing, and not some cheap shot butt end of a joke.

Republicans, via gerrymandering, caging the vote, purging the vote, intimidating the vote, suppressing the vote, are the one 'rigging' the vote.
And now Trump is trying to steal the election by accusing democrats of cheating, but it is he who is trying to thwart the will of the people when he tried to get legislators to toss Biden's electors for Trump electors, not to mention trying to get Pence to violate the constitution on Jan 6 to stop the certification, against the will of the people.

Republicans are the cheats, not Democrats.

You guys think you've latched on to a winner, manipulating statistics like that. So, I have to ask, IF the "left" is so good at rigging elections? Why didn't Democrats pick up more house seats and at least 60 in the Senate? 8)

But here's why, using my State of Colorado as an example, Democrats like mail in ballots.
    • Ease of voting
    • More time to research the issues and candidates, making better choices.
    • Better security, Colorado is best of breed when it come to election security.
    • And most of all we have GREAT VOTER TURN OUT.

Not at all. They’re lazy plain and simple
If you can’t go vote normally you shouldn’t vote. Mail ins can be counterfeit more easily and anyone with common sense knows that
How long does the election go for? If you can’t keep up to date in that time frame I highly doubt you have the cognitive ability to vote anyway.

But why? Just because we have always done it that way is not a good reason to keep doing it that way.

Explain to me how this is not a secure system for voting....I request my mail-in ballot on line using personal information only I or an ID thief would know. The ballot can only be mailed to my address on record. Once it arrives I fill it out and send it back with my signature and it has a tracking number known only to me and I can track it as it makes its way from the post office to the county office to being processed and then being tabulated.

Our elections worked fine until mail in ballots and voting machines took over.

Some people get multiple mail in ballots and then it takes weeks to count them.

I have no problem with using them if they are all counted before election day.

I'll file that in the wishful thinking file.
    Says who? You?
there is no evidence for 'counterfeit' which would alter the outcome of an election.
There has been mail in ballots since the civil war. Only since Trump poised the minds of his followers has it all of a sudden been a problem.
Ad hominems do not buttress an argument, but anyone with sufficient cognitive ability would know that and they would also know how to frame a logical argument.

And they worked fine after mail in ballots and voting machines as well, had Trump eeked out a win in Nov we would not be hearing a word about mail in ballots right now.

I am against sending them to everyone, just those that ask for them like I did.

I wish they would do that, but many Red states made it law they could not start counting them until the election was over, this was stupid.

Also, we need to move past the idea we will have an answer on election night, the country just has too many people voting for that to be done accurately now.

    And then…
    Really…. Spare me your hypocrisies.

I’ll file that as fact. I knew someone who quit their job just to get on Medicare, yes a democrat voter. He knocked up his wife and although having a good paying job quit just so he would t have to pay the medical bills.

personally I think that’s far superior than abortion so I won’t focus on that too much. He got a beautiful daughter out of it and I think my niece is totally worth it. I love her.

yup… Yon know, Joe does know…

Did you miss the Bush vs Gore or are you too young to remember that? Yes this has been an issue long before Trump. In fact way way way before Trump. Remember when only property owners could vote? Yeah, me neither because that was at our founding. The point is we never intended for the lazy to have a voice. They don’t deserve it, just as our lazy employees don’t deserve to have a say in the direction of our business. It’s a bad moral, and economical standing for the health of the company.

Fair enough, we all do it at times. But, that doesn't change my point that 'ad hominems do not buttress an argument', which still stands.
You make a blanket statement. One anecdote doesn't prove your point, which is why I will continue to file it in the 'wishful thinking' file until such time you offer something more substantive.
Gore v Bush was about the lack of uniformity of standards in manual vote recounts across several districts in FLA at the time (violating the equal protection clause of the US Constitution ) , not about 'mail in ballots' or about 'counterfeit ballots'.

The court held that: “(1) manual recounts ordered by Florida Supreme Court, without specific standards to implement its order to discern 'intent of the voter,' did not satisfy minimum requirement for non-arbitrary treatment of voters necessary, under Equal Protection Clause, to secure fundamental right to vote for President...” --Ballotpedia
Not really, nothing like mail in ballots has all of the sudden become such a big deal, not since Trump. I've been voting by mail for years, and I don't recall anyone, to any degree like they are doing with Trump, raising a stink about it. The real issue is that republicans know that making it easier to vote means bad news to republicans, since there are more people voting for democrats than republicans, especially the less than ambulatory souls who will find getting to the polls a hassle, who will probably vote for dems since dems are medicare/medicaid friendly. But, according to you, less than ambulatory folks on medicare are 'lazy', because you said so. I think not.

That's the issue. So, republicans create hysterics about non existing fraud to create a fog about mail in ballots, in the hopes that more states will outlaw them. Well, they are curtailing them in red states for this very reason. It's not about fraud, it's about making it harder to vote because republican's percieve it increasing the odds of winning if fewer people vote. All of the voting laws they are enacting to restrict voting access in some way are motivated by this fact. The fraud argument is just a ruse.

    https://www.npr.org/2020/06/04/8648...nly-controversial-heres-what-you-need-to-know
    Completely irrelevant.
No, the founding fathers had misgivings about anyone who wasn't a white educated man of property voting. Common folks worked hard, slaves worked hard, women worked hard at home. It was the founders fear of the fact that they might vote in ways counter to the rich white property owner's interest. They euphemistically referred to these groups as 'factions', and along the 'factions' concept they also feared other groups aligned for a singular purpose, such as worker's guild, that sort of thing, for the same fear. That was the reason, not that anyone was 'lazy'.

We never intended for lazy people to have a voice?

That is this truly a bizarre statement.
It's not an argument about laziness. But, since you mentioned it, lazy people in a business should be fired. However, even if they are fired, they still have a right to vote. So, your analogy doesn't work.

Many very productive people appreciate convenience. By your logic, people who don't use mechanical lawn mowers shouldn't vote.

By your logic, people who don't use chain saws when cutting wood instead of manual saws shouldn't vote.

By your logic, people who use electric can openers instead of the manual kind, shouldn't vote.

All of them are 'lazy'. Why? Because you said so?

Appreciating convenience has nothing to do with being lazy, or not.

How many golfers drive golf carts instead of walking, and hire caddies?

By your logic, President Trump shouldn't vote.

    Your logic is truly bizarre.

I suppose we need to add mail-in voting to the list of our lazy attributes. We can slide it on the list somewhere in between in-door plumbing and the telephone.

Who still saddles up their horse in order to ride to the mall and do their shopping?

Who still stands in line at the bank in order to draw cash?

Who still writes checks to pay their bills?

The ONLY reason to OPPOSE mail in voting is because it is EASIER for the GOP to engage in Minority Voter Suppression with in-person voting. Long lines that eat up time result in lower turnouts.

Significantly more difficult to suppress the vote of anyone who can choose to vote for in the safety of their own home and then just drop off their vote on the way to work.
