Why on Earth do people love the royal family

.

 

I hold the queen in great respect as a woman who has served her country admirably for fifty years. I don't love her, but will bhe sad to see her go.

But I doubt too many britons love the family, they are a national institution, the NHS but less useful, Perhaps affestion would be a better term?

The Royals® are loved for the same reason that famous actors, singers and athletes are. They're professional celebrities. Everyone knows who they are, so people can chat idly about them without having to resort to boring things such as the weather, their pets or children. Sweden, Netherlands and Spain all have monarchs, but outside of parts of Europe, most people on the street would not be able to name the reigning monarch, much less members of their family.

 

They will go the same as an old boot becomes useless and is thrown out!

 

I could care less for any Royal Family.....And I have never met anyone who does care about them.​

 

They bring in the tourists if nothing else.

'People' love all sorts of strange things, particularly if they're lonely, and they project their frustrated feelings on celebrities like Princess Diana, which gives them a sense of having an emotional life. Normal people do have some respect for the Queen, since she has been there a long time and does her duty, but they 'love' neither her nor all the hangers-on. Obviously the rich men's media build them up when it suits 'em, and people who live in republics are frightful snobs, especially when a royal wedding is put on for them. The whole thing is an historical accident, only kept on because the present monarch is better than any available politician.

 

Well, don't hold your breath. You might well expire two generations before they do.

You do know that the royal family are net contributors to the treasury?

 

The Royals pay huge amounts in tax.

You'd be wrong.

The Civil List is money paid out by the treasury for the up keep of the soverign. In exchange the treasury pockets the revenues of the crown estate. There is an annual revenue of the 210 million pounds from the crown estates.

See net contributor. The treasury recieves more from the royals than the treasury gives the crown in allowances.

 

If you believe in reincarnation it might be you next rebirth who is King or Queen!? Imagine a whole spiritual democracy where each adherant gets a single life as prime through each cycle. Who knows, but it is interesting to see how they cope or fail at coping with having to be Royals.
