I am very fashion-challenged. First--I'm very small and petite. Finding size 0 clothes that are appropriate for a women almost 50---is tough. I don't have the money to build a good wardrobe that fit me well---so I wear the same thing over and over.

I did find some pants I love in a boutique that ships clothes from France. Apparently France has smaller people then the U.S.

I have found that different regions tend towards different dress standards. When I moved to Oklahoma from an urban university town in Kansas---I was shocked by how poorly people dressed. But....I fit in perfectly.

Currently I'm wearing blue jeans, sweater and my husbands comfy socks.

I like clothes but don't buy often, I have to love it, I wear dresses with cardies and blazers and atm am wearing out a kimono from hnm.

I like zara, hnm and river island for flats, but I find it expensive.

I don't wear pants as a general rule, I have a few pairs of tracksuit bottoms but day to day I am in dresses.

I kinda like the preppy american look, wouldn't wear it but it can look very wholesome, much better than pajamas and ugg boots.

Tourists probably aren't the best judge of fashion, when you're living out of a suitcase your looking for wear ability and versatility.

Current outfit, knee length black dress, tights, ankle boots and cardie.

    Not at all really.

Whatever my girlfriend tells me to wear. Though, I do protest when her selections start making me look like some effeminate metrosexual. "(*)(*)(*)(*) no I'm not wearing a pink polo shirt!"

That shows how much you know...skater dresses are currently a must have item.

I agree with you though. They are flattering, but look old fashioned to me.

All of the above and it's winter now. You'd be wearing it with boots.... I thought I might cave and get a top with the dipped hem. I like a bum coverer anyway

Ah, it's a bit buttoned up ZM. Too many clean lines is too clinical for me. But to each her own. The skater dress you posted has really beautiful fabric. It's a thing of beauty. And I have been tempted, that style is very flattering and not too clingy etc.

    Lol...

Pink used to be the male colour, and blue was the female colour.

Check it it youself, it is true.

In general I don't like how matchy matchy American popular fashion can be. I generally find it to be too colorful as well.

You can never have too much color. I'd wear lime green and pink like Indian women if I could.

    Yes you can.

I find Americans are into a lot of very loud colours.

I prefer more olives and black, and maybe white.

Are you living in a warmer climate?

I feel that I select more colorful clothes when the sun is out, but I really find it almost offensive to wear really bright clothes when it is a grey, cold day.

Lately, I have preferred Black and White even in the Summer, and mostly black, brown and dark blue, with a hint of color (usually a scarf in jewel tones) in an accessory in the Winter.

I don't know how to respond without maybe sounding sexist, but basically I think colors are better on women, but the most important thing is that the color you wear actually works on you. I guess I don't have the most "forward thinking" taste really.

Men that wear white socks should be shot dead.

If they are towelling, they should be resurrected, and shot all over again.

    Nope, NYC.

I wear black and white daily as part of my job. My coloring is strange so I have to confine myself to "winter" and "bright winter" colors if you go by that old season chart. I have black hair, blue eyes, and deathly pale skin. So my color chart is this:

I guess we might have the same "color profile!" I have dark brown hair (well . . .coming out of a bottle this days. . .thinking of letting go grey soon), and blue eyes. My skin is also very pale, although I can get a decent tan (not very dark though) in the Summer when I do a lot of gardening and walking outside in super hot South Carolina.

I can see that if you wear black and white for your job, you could get sick of it!
I'm sure the color on your chart look lovely on you. I don't think they are that bright, but interesting.

If someone had a tiny head, they could use one as a Klan hood.

Hey now, there's nothing wrong with a little head. Or a whole lot of it for that matter.
