How much are you into your clothes, and what tends to be your general style?

Having been across much of Europe, and having seen Americans that come here, I have to say, the latter generally have questionable taste.

No offence or anything, but they either go for a sort of preppy look, or if they are more middle aged, really awful trousers, topped with an unfeasibly bad jumper, and a white baseball cap. With 'Yankees' written on it. Anyone that has seen seen American tourists will vouch for this.

The best dressers that I have seen are the British and the Italians.

Brits have always had sub cultures that have lent itself to this, like the mods, or more recently, the casuals.

Italians, well, no need to give reasons why they are cited.

There is a difference between fashion and style, imo.

Something can be fashionable and expensive, but just simply horrible, and in 6 months, it has dated.

Style is permanent, style takes effort.

Okay, thinking about what I wore today, as I made my way across the city.

I will cite the maker and style, so you can get an idea, as well the typical cost of each item.

    Let me think.

Pair of Armani boot cut jeans - £120.

Pair of black Paul Smith boots - £180.

    3/4 Stone Island cream coat - £550

Simple black crew necked Hugo Boss - £80.

    Over to you>>>:aww:

I know a lot of Europeans with very questionable taste in clothes. Otherwise I agree with you completely.

Lots of mods later became casuals.

    I can see why.

Music + that penchant to look the part.

    Strange that.

I would have thought your style was jackboots and a nazi uniform.

I have found it the other way round actually. It does depend on your age to a large extent.

    That too.

With one of those Kossack hats on.

Anyway, never mind that, how about you?

    Q. How into clothes are you, and what is your general style.

    A. I'm not into civilian clothes at all, and wouldn't know one brand from another...
but in terms of a "general" style, I never made it past the field grade ranks. *rimshot*

Sorry for not contributing beyond a ready admission to knowing little about "fashion."

Any medallions involved in your style, Jack?

I disagree completely. In any tourist location, the Brits are easy to spot because they're the scruffiest and walk with a downtrodden shuffle. By and large, we are a shambles.

The Yanks are very easily spotted, but then so are others. Some Eastern European countries have hellish dress sense, why they think bright orange trainers with skinny leggings look good (and that's the men)...but also the way they move is completely different.

    No.

    LOL.

I do not like jewellry, and only wear one ring, even then, I will not wear yellow gold, but white gold.

Germans lag behind large parts of Europe, in the style stakes.

Hugo Boss does his best, but I have still seen lots of Germans wearing sleeveless denim jackets, with patches sewn on.

Of course you can! be yourself and remember it is "manners that maketh the man" and not his clothes.

Although whatever you do - it is always nice to do it with some style

My wife's a fashion designer (shacocouture.com). I love her clothes and think they are best for decent women in formal and semi-formal dress.
Among famous designers I think she most closely compares to Vivienne Westwood. It's not imitation though because when I met her she didn't know who Vivienne Westwood was.
For casual female outfits and business attire Donna Karan is the best.
As a poor man, I never paid much attention and by being slightly shorter and skinnier than most I had a wardrobe that consisted mostly of hand-me-downs not only from relatives but fellow church-goers and co-workers with relatives who had recently overtaken me in height or girth.
When I hit prosperity briefly in the late 1990s I bought two expensive suits, one tan, one black, a blue blazer and some bright pants, including two pair of white pants that got everyone's attention.

Black calf high boots with buckles near the ankle. Button jeans that arent even mine. A black hooded sweatshirt with white and silver flames and orange finger nails.

Oh wait, Italian yellow gold earings and chain with a St Anthony and 3 rings.

Come on if that aint some super sense of style. lol

What bothers me, is these women that buy jeans with stains and holes in them for $100.00. At least at good will they wash them before they put them on the rack. I've seen homeless people that dress better.

She should get into doing men's gear.

Good, over day, smart, but casual.

Something like the early stuff by One True Saxon.
