If you encounter some "pro-lifer" who declares "Abortion is murder", inform them that with just a few quick questions...and them answering honestly and directly, and not dodging or deflecting or trying to change the subject, you can prove either-

    A. they do NOT believe their own rhetoric, i.e. they DON'T believe "abortion is murder" (but instead some "lesser form of homicide" and thus their rhetoric is a lie)

or B. they are misogynists bordering on fascists.

    Here's how-

    1. Ask them- "So abortion is 'murder'....exactly the same as if I planed out, buying a gun, going to a maternity ward in a hospital, and shooting a baby?"

    If "Yes", go to #2

    2. "So if abortion were made illegal, you'd support it carrying a mandatory life-sentence or even execution for the doctor who performed an abortion?"

    if "Yes", go to #3

    3. "What if the woman herself self-induces an abortion chemically or physically....would you want her sent to prison for life or executed for murder?"

Perhaps it is fair to say abortion is a lesser form of murder, a fetus at 12 weeks may not be quite as far along in its advancement towards personhood as an unborn baby at 8 months gestation. Heck, we could even extend this type of logic and say perhaps the punishment for killing newborn babies should be less than the punishment for killing a 3-year-old. It certainly is a slippery slope when we begin saying that a human life at one age is worth more than at a different age of development.

The other part of this too is the situation in which the murder was committed. Sometimes we can understand why the perpetrator committed the murder, even if we disagree with their reasons for doing so. For example, a woman who finally kills her boyfriend after a long period of suffering severe domestic abuse and feeling trapped in the relationship. She should still be punished but the punishment will be much less.

So abortion, we could say, is a more "understandable" form of murder. The woman just wants it out of her body and doesn't want to deal with the responsibilities of a baby or pregnancy.

There has been no "slippery slope". Once a fetus is viable elective abortion is illegal.

IF a fetus is deemed a person, making abortion murder, then it's murder not a "sort of" murder.

Do you want women imprisoned for life or executed?

I 100% disagree with you, if the time should ever come that elective abortion is made illegal then by any legal standard it would be 1st degree murder (premeditated) against a "defenceless" person - though I stress here I do not consider the fetus defenceless at all.

Premeditated murder is the crime of wrongfully and intentionally causing the death of another human being after rationally considering the timing or method of doing so, in order to either increase the likelihood of success, or to evade detection or apprehension.

If a "pro-lifer" says "Abortion is a more understandable form of murder"...

they open themselves up to ambiguity that both their opponents on the pro-choice side could use against them....and contradicting their own exaggerated sense of morality.

BTW, the "abused woman who kills an abusive boyfriend" is typically considered "self-defense" or "justifible homicide"....yet it's doubtful you'll see a "pro-life" rally with signs saying-

    "Abortion Is Justifible Homicide!!!!"

    - - - Updated - - -

And if so, if abortion were made illegal....

and a woman SELF-induced an abortion....

and if the State she resided in had the death penalty for premeditated murder?...

that woman would be EXECUTED, correct?

I'm sure there would be some plea bargaining, but in essence and by the letter of the law she would have committed a premeditated murder and as such in a state with the death penalty she would be sentenced to be executed.

Let's be honest though Gorn, few if any pro-lifers are going to hang their hat on that one, which as we know makes them hypocrites.

    Exactly.....they CONTRADICT their own rhetoric.

Either abortion is "murder"...as they say and they'd want it treated as such. i.e, if illegal?....up to and including EXECUTING women who self-induce.

Or they are LYING and DON'T believe abortion is murder but some "other kind of thing".

I think that some of the Anti-Choicers think abortion is murder but, of course, get all weak kneed and flustered when the practicalities are shoved in their misogynistic faces.

But the driving force of most Anti-Choicers still is simply to control and punish women for having sex.

Abortion is an act of immorality that, mostly, follows another act of immorality.

    Nope!

If you are claiming that it is "murder" then it is premeditated and therefore 1st degree and must carry the death penalty.

So are you willing to execute 1 million women each and every year for the crime of abortion?

    How is that "pro-life"?

Is it violently taking a human life?
Is the motive for selfish reasons?
Did the victim have a say?
    Was the victim innocence?
    Was the act planned?
Are the vast majority of its similar age considered valuable humans?

Only the selfishly insane discount it as murder of human life.

    1. Yes. Because their hyperbolic rhetoric is just that...hyperbolic and rhetoric. They don't REALLY believe what they say.

    2. Yes. It always boils back down to the desire to control women via their uterus.

    - - - Updated - - -

    But is abortion "murder"...or not?

    - - - Updated - - -

So if abortion is murder...if it were illegal, would you want it prosecuted and PUNISHED as murder?

    Yes or No?

Why not read a biology book and find out, or do you always need others to educate you?

How do you think the fetus evades the females immune system?

I never said pregnancy was immoral. Re-read my post and think about it for a while.

You and I have had several discussions regarding this issue in the past, a hint is to think back at those. I am sure you know exactly what I mean so there is no reason to be a "smartass".

    Yes in self-defence.

    not always

does the person causing non-consented injuries to another have a say when their victim fights back? BTW, your attempt to portray the fetus as a victim is a failure.

Irrelevant, whether a person is innocent or guilty has no bearing on a persons right to defend themselves against non-consented injuries.

Irrelevant, does the person who fights back after being injured for 4 months "plan" their self-defence?

Life only has as much value as another places upon it, even you adhere to that.

Only the ignorant emotionally motivated count it as murder.

    - - - Updated - - -

So you advocate for the death penalty for a woman who intentional terminates in the states that have it and life imprisonment in the other states?

Not unexpected that a liberal would consider an innocent conceived human as a violent criminal attacking the irresponsible mother. Typical liberal logic, one mothers loving procreation is another's violent attacker who deserves the death penalty before birth.

Yes, if a doctor and/or mother collaborate to suck the brains from a newborn baby, they should be tried and punished accordingly.

So you cannot actually refute the answers given, instead you resort to the standard practice of evasion, and on top of that complete and utter lies as well, or would you care to show me where I say anything about the fetus being "a violent criminal attacking the irresponsible mother". I'd suggest actually doing some research but it would be wasted on a sock puppet.

The mother having an abortion in self defense hardly describes the truth. Murdering a defenseless human is what is truly happening. But, whatever allows you to sleep at night is your "choice of delusion.

To be clearer. You claimed self defense by death penalty, which implies a violent attacker scenario. Truly an insane mentality.

If a mother wants an abortion, the baby/fetus/whatever is inside her against her will. So the scenario isn't so far from the truth.
