But they claim they are serving the country by attempting to control Trump

We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous.

But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic.

    Isn't that possible??

Why in the world would anyone want a person, who has just described how they feel they along with others are saving our country from destruction at the hands of a man with no ethics or morality, to resign???

You can't deny that it sounds more than a little plausible.

No, I don't. This is an extraordinary event, unprecedented actually, and the NYT has explicitly stated the writer, who's identity is known to the NYT, is a high ranking member of the Trump administration. If the writer was a lower level employee the NYT wouldn't have bothered with this. The hunt is on and I think they'll find the person who wrote this piece. The writing is excellent although the writer slipped up (my opinion only) when he quoted a statement another person said to him in the White House. Unless this other person is on the same "team" as the writer, this should make it easier to track down the author of this op-ed. I'm thinking this official is part of the national security apparatus and high up in the regime but this is just a guess.

WaPo guy on Hardball just said his reporting indicates that "the president is speculating to his confidants that it might be somebody in the National Security realm"....

    Hmmm

You are likely correct. This op-ed reeks of propaganda, it appears to be intended only as a public relations campaign to discredit Trump. There are no names, no actual accusations, and no other apparent purpose.

Assuming this person is indeed a real person and not a figment of the NYT imagination it illustrates how deep the bureaucratic culture extends. If one disagrees with the culture the culture will find a way to have you neutralized.

Remember Schumers warning, "Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you."

Some food for thought from this essay for Trump's most loyal cultists:

Don’t get me wrong. There are bright spots that the near-ceaseless negative coverage of the administration fails to capture: effective deregulation, historic tax reform, a more robust military and more.

But these successes have come despite — not because of — the president’s leadership style, which is impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective.

From the White House to executive branch departments and agencies, senior officials will privately admit their daily disbelief at the commander in chief’s comments and actions. Most are working to insulate their operations from his whims.

Meetings with him veer off topic and off the rails, he engages in repetitive rants, and his impulsiveness results in half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless decisions that have to be walked back.

“There is literally no telling whether he might change his mind from one minute to the next,” a top official complained to me recently, exasperated by an Oval Office meeting at which the president flip-flopped on a major policy decision he’d made only a week earlier.

    ...

    _++

This is what they voted for. They didn't just get Trump's promises, but Trump himself, a man wholly unfit to be in the Oval Office.

There have been voices such as his before, but they didn't win the GOP nomination, or they didn't even try to. They were and remain outside of the GOP, where our two-party system ensures that they are automatically ignored. Without the two-party system, we could have more competent conservatives bringing these policies to Congress and even to the White House without having to resort to a pathological liar and tyrant who happens to be good at manipulating people and is too crazy to admit even once that he can't succeed, and so depraved and unprincipled as to rely on hostile foreign interference to win an election..

It isn't Trump the man they want. It is his promised policies on the economy and other areas. It's just that Trump has so far been the only "viable" choice in a voting booth to espouse these ideas and make all of these promises, and it's for the utterly retarded reason that he happened to run as a Republican. Having that label on him made all the difference. It makes the difference between competent politicians being ignored and incompetent politicians winning national elections, and the opposite.

I didn't vote for Trump, but thanks for proving you love to jump to conclusions just because someone disagrees with you. Like Trump, you're one of those "either you're with me or against me" types, ain'tcha?

President Trump has way to many accomplishments in less than two years. And that's what most Americans will look at.

Who gives a **** how Trump is running the country as long as he keeps winning and making America great again.

When you have the sheer volume of anecdotes and accusations coming from Republicans, Democrats, WH insiders, journalists, and an assortment of people from both sides, all of which agree and issue the same warnings, it goes beyond assumptions and simple partisanship. The din has been deafening for many months now. Only the deaf cannot hear.

This editorial is just the latest and maybe the most important.

The ****ing New York Times. How many times has the NYT published American secrets and got away with it by hiding behind the First Amendment ?

    Remember the "Pentagon Papers" ?

The NYT has no loyalty to America.

Wikileaks exposed that the NYT was in collusion with the DNC and the Hillary campaign and not surprising that the NYT was the first news ageancy to accuse President elect Trump of being in direct collusion with Russia. The NYT ended up retracting the story like how the NYT has to retract so many news stories all of the time.

The NYT is part of the "resistance."

It may also be nothing more than well written trollery. Considering the source is anonymous, and NYT was the chosen outlet, I'm just going to watch how it plays out, seems to be the more rational thing to do.
